Shade the Changing Man and Grimjack

Here's a cover featuring a couple of characters that I need to get to know better.  Grimjack always looked cool to me, and I enjoy the writing and art team of John Ostrander and Tim Truman, but I never got a chance to check out any of the comics, what's his best adventure?.  I've read very little of Shade, I think only when he was a member of Suicide Squad.  Is this new version  the same character that Ditko created in the 70's?

A big thank you to Bob Sanders for supporting the blog and suggesting this team-up!

Nexus and Booster Gold

The one major complaint I hear about DC films is that there is not enough humor in them.  For me, it depends on the story and character.  Marvel's movies have had plenty of humor, some has worked well (Guardians of the Galaxy), and some of it has been a distraction (Thor: The Dark World).   I'm thinking DC has a real opportunity with the announced Blue Beetle/Booster Gold film to be able to really stretch their comedic muscles.  They are a great funny buddy team in the comics and I think if cast well, they will be a blast to watch on the big screen.

Moon Knight and The Badger

These two have each had similar psychological issues, so I think they would find kindred spirits in one another.  Pity the poor hoodlums that get in their way, though!

Space Ghost and Nexus

I love the artwork of Steve Rude.  He has the ability to combine an old school sensibility with slick modern inking techniques and a cinematic style of storytelling.   His design for Nexus looks like it would fit right in next to Alex Toth's Space Ghost, and I would love to see them share an adventure together.

Metamorpho and E-Man

E-Man was another one of those comics that I was aware of through comic magazines, but never seemed to be sold anywhere around me.  I remember liking what I saw though, Nicola Cuti and Joe Staton looked like they were having a blast on the series.  It resurfaced every few years under different publishers, so it certainly had a following.  One of these days I am going to have to catch up with those early issues.

Tom Strong and Nexus

Tom Strong was my favorite among Alan Moore's ABC Comics line, as it was chock full of imagination and nods to great comic adventurers of the pst, so I am glad it has found continued life beyond Moore's departure.  I was worried that when he left, that was the last we would see of hs various ABC creations (although I'm still hoping for the return of Jack B. Quick).  Nexus similarly is a character that just can't be kept down.  He seems to reappear every few years, sometimes switching comic companies. I love that Steve Rude design and it's a good thing to see him in continuing adventures.

Batman and Nexus (Part Two)

As promised, here is Part Two of the Nexus team up. I really dig Nexus' costume and upon researching a little I was not surprised to see that Steve Rude mentions Alex Toth as an influence when he designed the look of the character. You gotta love his sleek look. Thanks for the info on where to check out his adventures, I've got some reading to do!

Batman and Nexus (Part One)

I am a huge Steve Rude fan, he has one of those timeless styles and a real mastery of light and shadow. I was happy to fulfill this request and as it turns out I couldn't decide which images to use so I made this one a two parter.

Doing the legwork on this one made me want to seek out some Nexus tales. So, what are the essential stories? Are there any TPB's that I should start with?
