Captain Marvel Jr. Vs. Jason Voorhees

Happy Halloween!  for this years festivities, I thought  that it was high time that this horror icon finally made his STF debut.  Who better to face off against him than one of comicdom's famous Freddys?  I suppose I could have gone with Fred Jones from the Scooby-Doo gang, but I can't imagine that would be a very long story.  Panel one: Fred removes Jason's hockey mask.  Panel two: Jason removes Fred's head.

Power Man and The Atom

Man, I used to love when The Atom would travel through phone lines.  It didn't make a lot of sense to me, but it seemed so cool!

The Heroes for Hire aspect of the Power Man and Iron Fist team was teased when we saw Luke Cage and Danny Rand on the Netflix shows, but it was never actually explored.  I'd love to see that scenario utilized when the two eventually make their MCU debut.  It gives then a unique street level perspective and is a great springboard for stories.

Metamorpho and Indiana Jones in: "The Orb of Horus!"

Indy is of course referring here to his first outing with Rex Mason in STF #2923...

Reports are that the release of James Mangold's Indiana Jones movie has been pushed back a full year.  That's too bad, I am pretty interested to see how this fifth installment will be pulled off, but it looks like it will be a while before we learn anything more.  I've read that there may be flashback scenes with a de-aged Harrison  Ford, so perhaps the delay will provide enough time to get those effects just right.

Wildcat and ROM

It was pretty cool to see the live action Ted Grant Wildcat on Stargirl this season.  He looked great, but unfortunately even though he was suited up, it was only for dialogue scenes.  Hopefully if he continues to appear in flashback we will eventually see him in action as well.

Legion of Super-Heroes and Jack of Hearts

Jack of Hearts has never seemed to find a permanent home in the Marvel Universe, maybe he would have better luck in the future.  With that colorful and detailed costume, Jack looks like a long lost Legionnaire anyway! It might be fun to see him mixing it up with the teens of tomorrow.

Black Goliath and Elasti-Girl

I am glad to use a Black Goliath image here that was penciled by Sal Buscema and Inked by Jim Mooney.  Sal Buscema was the undisputed master of illustrating characters delivering or receiving a powerful punch, and Jim Mooney drew some of the prettiest girls in comics.  I was lucky enough to pick up original pieces by both of them several years back:

Don't let the Larry Lieber signature fool you.  The back of this strip indicates that it was penciled by Sal Buscema and inked by the legendary Joe Sinnott:

Shining Knight and Cyclops

Continued From yesterday's cover, we now see which X-Man had to return back to the Seven Soldiers of Victory's era.  If there's one member of Xavier's team that deserves better treatment than was received in the Fox movies, it's Scott Summers.  Here's hoping Marvel does him justice once he joins the MCU.

X-Men and the 7 Soldiers of Victory

This story takes place shortly after the events of STF #1700, where the 7 Soldiers found themselves trapped in the wrong decade and educating at the Xavier institute. But which student will have to return with them? Make sure that you come back here tomorrow for the exciting conclusion!

The A-Listers

Marc Tyler Nobleman,  comics historian and Patron of this Blog, suggested I make an All-New A-Team cover featuring heroes with an "A" Symbol.  I hope he doesn't mind that I gave this new group a name of their own - I didn't want to incur the wrath of B.A. Baracus!  Thanks, Marc!

M.A.N.T.I.S. and The Flash

M.A.N.T.I.S. was a TV series ahead of it's time.  The Carl Lumbly-starring tale of a high tech superhero hit the airwaves just a few years before the new era of live action comic book shows really got into full swing.  I watched every episode of its single season though, and I remember it getting really good by the end and disappointed that there would not be more.  Maybe if it came out a decade later it would have had a longer run.

Jimmy Olsen and Wolfsbane

They're both redheads that have been known to turn into wolves, so I think that these two would definitely find some common ground.  I always like Rahne Sinclair, especially in her earlier appearances.  Later efforts to make her a little more edgy didn't really work for me.

I am always glad to use the amazing art of Bob McLeod on this blog.  Here's a page I picked up by him and inker Tom Palmer several years back:

Spy Vs. Spy and Two-Face

Harvey Dent is all about balance, so I see this as a natural collaboration.  I can see their infighting and plotting becoming a distraction that he would be forced to deal with, though.  Let's hope at least one of them knew enough to tamper with his coin to give themselves the desired outcome.

Thor and The Justice League of America

Here's another pairing that I am surprised I haven't done before.  In a team filled with Amazons, aliens and robots, I have not doubt that and Asgardian God would easily fit right in without anyone batting an eye.  With all of the menaces constantly plaguing both Earth and Asgard, I can see it being a mutually beneficial relationship.

Brother Voodoo and Doctor Fate in: "Mage Match!"

There was a brief presentation for Black Adam at DC Fandome, but alas - other than an extreme close up, we did not get a look at the costumes for either Doctor Fate or Hawkman.  We did get to see more of the title character though, and while his costume looks great, for me it's undermined by the fact that Adam's signature hairstyle is missing, leaving a bald Rock looking like he does in every other movie. Perhaps Fate can whip up a mystical hairpiece for him?

Brother Voodoo and Doctor Fate first crossed paths in STF #1631...

Big Barda and Medusa

Here are two characters I am dying to see in the movies.  Barda has a great back story and I love the juxtaposition between her as a warrior in battle and loving wife and partner of Scott Free.  Medusa needs far better treatment than she received on the Inhumans tv series.  Let's not chop all of her hair off, for a start!  I'd love to see her powers in action with a big MCU budget.

Legion of Super-Heroes and Quantum Leap

I didn't watch enough of the episodes to know if Sam Beckett ever leapt forward past the span of his own lifetime, but I'm sure he never went to the 30th Century.  Future jumps would have been cool to see, though, and made for some fun stories.  Especially if he leapt into the body of a certain Captain Jonathan Archer.

Power Girl and Spider-Man

It was mentioned in an earlier comment section that Spider-Man and Power-Girl had not yet crossed paths on this blog, and I felt that it was indeed time for them to meet.  I can't wait to see what's in store for Spider-Man: No Way Home.  There's been all kinds of rampant speculation, but I just hope that all the big surprises have not been spoiled yet.  We should be getting a second trailer soon that may confirm some persistent rumors.

Ms. Marvel and Green Lantern

Reports are that Ms. Marvel will have an alteration to her powers on her upcoming Disney+ show, as compared to the comic book version.  She is known for stretching abilities and "embiggening" her hands to make powerful fists in battle.  I don't know if Marvel thinks that looks to goofy or if the want to avoid having a stretchy hero before introducing Mr. Fantastic, but now those big fists will be realized through Green Lantern-type energy constructs.  It will be interesting to see if the comics eventually follow suit.

Groot and BB-8

The characters introduced in the third Star Wars trilogy were hit and miss with me, but one that I really got a kick out of was BB-8.  I was very impressed with his simple yet effective design, and really liked all the personality that was put into the droid.  Best of all, he was realized mostly practically, which made him feel all the more real on screen.

Kraven the Hunter Vs. Catwoman

I'm still not sure about Aaron Taylor-Johnson being cast as Kraven for a solo movie.  I guess he can suitably bulk up for the role, but I've never seen the kind of savagery that Kraven has in any of his other performances.  Then there's the fact that I don't know if Kraven The Hunter even warrants a movie of his own, I'd rather see him as he was meant to be - an antagonist in a Spider-Man story.  Hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised on both fronts.

Wonder Woman and Captain America in: "The Super-Simian Serum!"

This marks the 26th appearance of The WW/Cap team on this blog, and it looks like someone's trying to monkey around with their marriage.  As cool as it is that someone had the ability to change Cap into and Ape, I'm even more impressed that they were able to locate a uniform that fit him in that form.  Those oversized toed boots can't be easy to find!

Deadman Vs. Venom

I thought the first Venom movie was a lot of fun, despite going way over the top with many moments, and I hear that the sequel promises more of the same.  I will definitely be checking it out.

I am always happy to use a Jose Luis Garcia Lopez image of Deadman.  Here's a Garcia Lopez sketch of Boston Brand that I was able to pick up several years back:

The Metal Men vs. Ultron in: "Downloading Depravity!"

The Metal Men previously clashed with Ultron in STF #1836...

I enjoyed seeing the ultimate Ultron in the last couple of episodes of What If on Disney+, but one moment had me scratching my head.  SPOILERS for the final episode follow:

When Thanos arrives with the Infinity Stones to collect the final one from Ultron, Ultron uses the mind stone to immediately slice him in half, instantly killing him.  A cool and shocking moment to be sure - but why couldn't The Vision do the same in Avengers: Infinity War with his Mind Stone, instead of trying to destroy it?  I know there was a comment about how the Stones have slightly different properties in different realities, so I suppose that's a loophole.  Still, The Vision could have at least tried to use it in that way against Thanos.

Shuri and Cyborg

It is still unclear whether we will be seeing Shuri suit up in a Panther costume in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, but I enjoyed when that happened in the comics, so I hope we do.  My guess is that there will be more than one candidate in the movie to don the mantle, so it will be interesting to see how it all plays out - especially against the backdrop of the emergence of Namor and Marvel's Atlantis.

Harley Quinn Vs. Daredevil

I always thought that Harley Quinn's original jester costume looked familiar, and I finally remembered why... and thus, a cover is born!  Sure, she traded spikes for bells, but it's pretty darn close!  Even when Harley changes outfits, I prefer when she sticks to the red and black color scheme.

Supergirl and Captain Marvel in: "Bring Your Pet To Work Day!"

This marks the 10th adventure of The Danvers Twins on this blog, and I thought that it was high time they brought along a couple of their faithful companions.  I'm curious about the DC's League of Super-Pets movie featuring Krypto, Ace the Bat-Hound and others.  The animation from the quick teaser looked cool and I like the voice cast.  I'm sure it's geared towards kids, but I'm a sucker for animal movies.  I'm guessing we'll get a full trailer at the upcoming DC Fandome event.

Casey Jones and Wild Dog

These guys are two street level heroes with similar tastes in fashion, it's only natural that they should cross paths at one point or another.  It's always interesting to read about crimefighters that operate on a limited budget, and these are two of the better examples.  It would be cool to see them share a story.

Doctor Strange and Detective Chimp

Mephisto has been teased in the MCU (which has led to rampant speculation) but not actually used yet, and I wonder where or if he will actually show up.  While he is a key villain from the comics with ties to many heroes, he still poses some problems when it comes to adapting him for the movies.  China does not like any depictions of Satan, so that may be giving Disney pause.  Will he appear in altered form, or will he be included with all of his devlish trappings, knowing his presence will keep the film out of a major market?  Only time will tell.

The Atom and Ghost Rider

These two heroes don't seem to have much in common, but throw a villain like Felix Faust into the mix and I can imagine a story that would get them to join forces.  Faust has history with The Atom and I can see his supernatural shenanigans capturing Ghost Rider's attention.

Iron Man Vs. Doctor Light

I am always happy to use an Iron Man image featuring the talented artwork of Bob Layton.  There's something about how he makes it shine that puts his depiction above all others for me.  Many years back, I commissioned an Iron Man vs. Dr. Doom illustration from him, and he went above and beyond and recreated an entire classic cover for me.  I could never afford an actual cover original, so receiving this was a real treat:

Spaceman Spiff Vs. Duck Dodgers

This would certainly be a battle for the ages.  But would it be the most epic confrontation of the 24th and 1/2 century, or is it all a distraction in Calvin's mind to keep him from completing his homework assignment?  The answer is just six dimes away!
