Thunder-Bunny and Captain Carrot

These two are both members of BunnyBunch, but Tom Brennan, a Patron of this Blog, thought it would be cool to see just the two of them together, using the less cartoony version of Captain Carrot.  Well, here you go, Tom!  Thank you for the idea and for being a Patron!

BunnyBunch!

I've been getting requests for a bunny based super group pretty much since I started creating teams for STF.  I finally got around to it, and since rabbits are known for multiplying, this is easily my largest team to date.  At 10 members, they are a pretty powerful force - but I'm sure some people will still be  saying, "Hey, where's Thumper?" or something. Oh well, I hope that your favorite made the cut!

Captain Carrot Vs. The Punisher

It probably should be taken with a grain of salt, but Rosario Dawson has made a few statements lately that indicate both she (as Claire/Night Nurse) and Jon Bernthal (as The Punisher) are set to become part of the MCU proper, most likely in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series.  I hope it's true, I really like both of those characters on the Netflix shows, and would enjoy seeing them again.

Captain Carrot and Devil Dinosaur

We've seen Batman: The Brave and The Bold, DC Nation Shorts and Justice League Action each bring all sorts of DC characters to animation, no matter how obscure.  For some reason, Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew have yet to make the cut.   That seems to be quite an oversight to me - if there is any DC Comics property that was made for a cartoon adaptation, it's the Zoo Crew!

Captain Carrot and Bugs Bunny

With so many DC properties that have made the leap to animation, I wonder why Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew has missed out on the fun.  The Funny Animal/Superhero hybrid comic from the 80's seemed tailor made for a cartoon show, but that's something that never has come to pass.  They didn't even get a guest shot on Batman: The Brave and the Bold - I though for sure that they would show up there.

Darkwing Duck and Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew

I watched the pilot episode of Darkwing Duck on Disney+ and got a kick out of it.  I missed the show when it first aired.  It still surprises me that there has never been an animated version of Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew.  It seems like the perfect property to make that transition.  I was hoping they would show up on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, but they were sadly a no-show.

Hong Kong Phooey and Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew

Between Justice League Unlimited, Batman: The Brave and The Bold, Justice League Action and the various DC animated shorts, we have seen most of the DCU in cartoon form at one time or the other.  I am surprised that Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew have not been included yet, though.  They seem perfect for animated adventures, they wouldn't even have to be re-designed!

Captain Carrot & The Zoo Crew and Man-Thing

Marvel Studios redeemed Daredevil and The Punisher after some misguided theatrical attempts, why not Man-Thing?  They can't let that Syfy movie be his only live action representation.  Where would he show up though?  A Doctor Strange sequel might be a good place.  I'd love for them to find a way to have him mix it up with The Hulk, too (and indeed, his visage was spotted in the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok).

Duck Avenger Vs. Captain Carrot

Captain Carrot was another character that I hoped would show up on Batman : The Brave and the Bold that we never got to see.  Batman visited some offbeat worlds on that show so why not Earth-C to encounter The Zoo Crew?  They never showed up on any of DC's animated shorts, either.  Maybe, like Young Justice, one of those cartoons will return one of these days and we will get another chance..

Captain Carrot & The Zoo Crew and Marvel Tails

I wasn't a huge reader of funny animal comics growing up, but I would usually give them a look when they were superhero-related.  Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew was always a fun read, and I also liked it when Spider-Ham expanded his world.  My only regret on this cover is that I had no room to include Goose Rider - I love that name!

Gyro Gearloose Joins Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew

He may never have quite reached the popularity of Donald Duck or even Uncle Scrooge, but I always thought that Gyro Gearloose was pretty darn cool.  I have always been fascinated by unique inventions, so I would naturally gravitate to stories featuring this master tinkerer.  It was always interesting to me to see what new devices he would come up with.

Bugs Bunny and Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew

The Bugs and Daffy Loony Tunes Hour was my favorite non-superhero cartoon growing up.  I had no idea at the time that those shorts were already decades old by the time I watched them.  Now, decades later still, when I watch those same cartoons on the Golden Collection series of DVD's, they still hold up just as well.  It's really a testament to the Warner Brothers animators that they were able to create such timeless classics.

Usagi Yojimbo Joins Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew

I have enjoyed the DCU animated shorts that are played during their cartoon series.  Most are light hearted and skew to a younger audience, so I think that some Zoo Crew appearances would be a fitting and welcome addition to the  line up.  These guys are tailor made for animation!.

Captain Carrot & His Amazing Zoo Crew and Mighty Mouse

There have been a bunch of super-powered funny animal characters over the years, but I think the first that made an impression on me was Mighty Mouse.  As I kid I loved watching Warner Brothers and Disney cartoons, and here was a cartoon who was also a superhero!  Sure, Daffy, Bugs and Donald had all put on a super suit for an episode, but Mighty Mouse was a hero full-time, not for just a single short.  They didn't play a lot of MM cartoons in my area when I was growing up, so it was always a treat to get to see one.

Captain Carrot and Flaming Carrot

I have to admit I have only a passing knowledge of Flaming Carrot, but I always got a kick out of his design, and what little I have read was genuinely funny.  Captain Carrot and His Amazing  Zoo Crew was an interesting attempt by DC to tap into the cartoon animal market.  They were smart to tie the characters to the main DCU through the concept of the multiverse, and it has been nice to see them return briefly here and there.  The new DCU seems to have steered away from fun characters so who knows when they will pop up again.  I think the Saturday morning animated DCU shorts that have been airing recently would be a cool place for them to appear.

Batman and Captain Carrot

Another request. Wasn't sure how the dead serious Aparo art would work with Scott Shaw's cartoony style, but I think it adds the absurdity of the scene. My criteria for a cover is whether it would make me want to read the story inside and although simple, this one would pass the test with me.

Captain Carrot was the head of the Amazing Zoo Crew in a series during the 80's that skirted the line between funny animals and superheroics. DC included the Zoo Crew world as part of it's multiverse and they even had crossovers with Superman, Changeling, etc. The stories were always pretty much played for laughs though, so I thought it would be fun to show a slightly menacing Captain Carrot here.
