The Blue Beetle and Captain America in "I'll Take Manhattan"

Like many kids, Captain America was a favorite character to role-play as because it was easy to use a trash can lid as a stand in for his shield.  I got pretty good at hitting targets and deflecting rocks with it, much to the annoyance of my father  who just wanted to darn things to fit on then trash cans.  Hey, it's not my fault he used cheap aluminum instead of a vibranium alloy!

Cap has also shared an adventure with Dan Garrtet's successor, Ted Kord.

Spider-Man and The Original Blue Beetle

I am sure I'll check out The Amazing Spider-Man in the theaters but I still have mixed opinions about it.  I like that Spidey now had web shooters rather than organic webs, but I don't get the addition of the metallic slippers.  I like the mask much better than the one from the Raimi movies, as it looks closer to the original Ditko design, but then the costumers added the unnecessary pin stripes and eliminated the belt portion in the front... which just seems like change for change's sake.  I like the use of the Lizard finally, but the look and the voice seem off to me.  And finally, retelling the origin so soon still strikes me as a strange decision.  If nothing else, the action scenes look cool (when he isn't whipping his mask off in mid-battle).  I'm going in with middling expectations and I hope I will be pleasantly surprised by what I see.

Batman and The Blue Beetle (Retro)

The Blue beetle is one of those legacy characters for whom I enjoy every incarnation.  I like the new Jaime Reyes version and i am glad that he has gotten another chance at a solo title with the New 52 at DC.  I was hoping the Reboot would bring Ted Kord back in some manner - no sign of him yet but I guess there's still a chance.  I am the least familiar with the Dan Garrett original, but I have enjoyed the few Golden Age stories that I have seen him in.  Heck I even liked the live action, beer bellied Blue Beetle that used to appear on episodes of The Electric Company, that guy used to make me laugh!
