Dick Tracy and Ace, The Bat-Hound

With Krypto confirmed for the upcoming Superman movie, I think it's high time for a live action Ace the Bat-Hound.  Whether as part of the new DCU iteration of Batman or an adaptation of Batman Beyond, we need to see the Dark Knight Dog do his thing.

Ace the Bat-Hound and Spider-Ham

I had to come up with a worthy adversary for these two, and then it hit me.  Who better than that dastardly thief and master of disguises, Feathers McGraw?  He almost got the best of Wallace and Gromit , after all!

Ace and The Dogs of War in: "Stark Kraven Mad!"

Ace and the Dogs of War first appeared way back in STF #415.  Ace later joined Krypto in battling Kraven in STF #3505.  It looks like The Hunter is still perturbed by that altercation and is looking to take his revenge out on Ace's whole team.  What better reason to end their 9-year hiatus?

Krypto & Ace Vs. Kraven the Hunter

Even tough it's aimed at younger viewers, I am looking forward to DC League of Super-Pets.  I'm a sucker for comics, superheroes and animals, so there's a lot there to appeal to me.  I even have a cat named Ace!

I am always happy to use the artwork of Curt Swan on this blog.  I was lucky enough to get an original page by him (and Inker Bob Oskner) many years back - I liked this piece because it shows so many of Superman's powers in action:

Ace and the Dogs of War

I love superheroes and I love dogs, so when the two are combined it really captures my interest.  I know I am not the only one who must feel that way because once I started featuring new teams on this blog, an all-pooch crew was one of the more common requests I would get.  I think a team like this, once they stopped sniffing each other's butts, would be unstoppable!

Batman and The Grinch

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all of the Lost Issues readers! I truly appreciate everyone who makes the time to stop in and check out the covers and I wish you a great holiday season close by the ones you love.  The blog grew in popularity last year and hopefully will continue to do so in 2012.  I was glad to ge a chance to use the Grinch here, star of perhaps the greatest Christmas cartoon ever.  You really can't go wrong with the combination of Doctor Seuss, Chuck Jones and Boris Karloff!

Make sure you come back Monday for the ALL-NEW Lost Issues!  Be here on the ground floor of a bold new era!

Batman and Captain Marvel (Retro)

Captain Marvel is nowhere to be seen so far in the DC Reboot.  I know DC wants to get a Captain Marvel film up and running, so I'll be surprised if he is off the solicitation list for too long.  Hopefully when he returns he will be back to the traits that made him so popular in his early years. The tendency to try and make every character darker and more realistic especially hasn't worked on the Marvel Family.  Their stories should be about action, fun and imagination and able to be enjoyed by all ages.   I mean, one of Captain Marvel's greatest enemies is a caterpillar! That kind of thing is awesome to me and it loses something when a writer tries to make it grim and gritty or attempts to over-explain it.

The Thing and Ace, The Bat-Hound

I always got a kick out of the Silver Age tales that featured Ace, but it wasn't until the animated Batman Beyond started to feature him that I really began to like the character. The idea of a dog sidekick to Batman suddenly makes sense when paired with the future Bruce Wayne. The episodes featuring Ace are some of my favorites, especially the one that features his origin. The classic Ace was featured in an episode of Batman: The Brave and the Bold, which was a hoot, and of course in most episodes of Krypto the Super Dog. Hmmm is it too much to hope for a cameo in The Dark Knight Rises?
