Daredevil and Ace, The Bat-Hound

There was a pitch for a never produced Daredevil animated series that featured a dog sidekick, Lightning.  I think I would have enjoyed that!

This post is dedicated to my cat Ace, who passed away at the much too young age of 10 recently.  I miss him terribly.  Here are a few memories of him, casting a perfect bat-shadow and acting as my muse as I worked on this blog over the years:

Terribly sorry for your loss.

My condolences on the loss of Ace. My parents' red tabby, Cleo, lived to be 16 before she had to be "euthanized" (I still can't bear to use the clinical veterinary term). And, like Ace, she loved to interrupt my playing around with the computer mouse! Although, personally, I think it was more jealousy of the split attention rather than zoological misidentification. ;-)

As for today's cover? Interesting-looking antagonist for Hornhead and Bat-hound. Based on the inclusion of Chester Gould's name among the search links, I think it's safe to deduce he's from a Dick Tracy story arc.

Last but not least; only 27 more issues till STF #5200! If my calculations are correct, that will be on July 9. Just five days after the national 250th anniversary. So we--your loyal readers--will have double cause to celebrate next month! See you, then. :-)

What a charmer. Had Patches until kidneys made her a living skeleton for her final vet trip.
This is a cover of 'grins'....BUT....Matt went looking for a chew toy for Ace?
That baddie had no idea he was dealing with 'A Bat out of Hell!!'

Condolences about the loss of Ace from me, as well. We had a cat while I was a child, a brown tabby named Pyewhacket (named after the cat in the film 'Bell, Book, and Candle', which my parents saw together while they were courting, even though that one was a Siamese instead), who had to be euthanized due to an incurable health problem when I was only ten, and the family couldn't bear to get another cat afterwards.

From me, as well, condolences on the loss of Ace the cat.

As for today's cover, the bad guy looks an awful lot like Mumbles.

Jeez… Sorry about your cat, man, that's always tough. And especially so soon… Keeping you in my thoughts, and thanks for bringing a daily smile to all of us, regardless of what you're going through.

Speaking of which, great work today, as usual! And I had a random idea enter my mind this very morning… The Liquidator (from Darkwing Duck's rogues) and Marvel's Sandman (from Spider-Man's rogues)!

If I recall correctly, a Near Death Experience video post on YT had a female vet dying briefly & entering Heaven where all the animals she felt guilty about handling their cases (Owners wanted them put down but she had her doubts on their cases). They were all there to greet her = dogs, cats, horses, birds, etc. She didn't think pets went there but this experience had her believe otherwise. They welcomed her brief existence there & she felt nothing but love from all of them. Maybe this documented life experience can give you guys some comfort on the loss of your pets over your lifetimes.

A fresh team up idea today with a rarely used animal hero in comics. How about a week of double female team-ups to make up for the Mr. Universe backed drought we've been getting this year of 2026?

Like, say, Big Barda and the New Female Furies vs. Mr. U?

I'm a few days late, but i also wanted to say that I'm sorry to hear about your loss of Ace. He looks like he was a good friend. I had my cat for 17 years. He's been gone for some time now, but I still miss him.
