Batman and Captain Avenger

One of the parts I like about making these photo movie covers is to "cast" the villains and supporting characters.  Anyone who has seen NYPD Blue knows that Dennis Franz' Andy Sipowicz was basically Harvey Bullock, so that one was a no-brainer.  Anthony Hopkins played a twisted ventriloquist controlled by his dummy to do evil deeds in the 1978 movie Magic, so that was another natural casting.  I wonder if that movie inspired the creation of the Batman villain.

The A-Listers

Marc Tyler Nobleman,  comics historian and Patron of this Blog, suggested I make an All-New A-Team cover featuring heroes with an "A" Symbol.  I hope he doesn't mind that I gave this new group a name of their own - I didn't want to incur the wrath of B.A. Baracus!  Thanks, Marc!

The Greatest American Hero Vs. Captain Avenger

I remember the John Ritter-starring movie, Hero at Large, fondly.  It was sort of like Galaxy Quest but for the superhero genre. Ritter starred as an actor that played the hero Captain Avenger for a movie promotion, and winds up taking the role more literally than he had anticipated.  It, like The Greatest American Hero, was an interesting deconstruction of the costumed hero trope well before comics like Watchmen came along.
