Tintin and Iron Man

 

Sure, it's one of the earlier models, but who wouldn't want to spend some time in an Iron Man suit?  I'm sure Tintin has a good reason for needing one.

There's nothing like a crisply detailed mystery to make for an entertaining afternoon of reading.  I'd like to see what kinds of secrets that this pairing could uncover together.

Filming on the HBO Max Lanterns series is finally underway.  Hopefully that means we will soon get some more details on the look of the production.  I am sure the costume designers will want to steer clear of the mockery that Ryan Reynold's CGI costume received.  One distant set photo has been released, but it did not reveal anything.

Batman has been called the World's Greatest Detective and Tintin can never pass up a good story, so it wouldn't surprise me to see the young reporter get involved with The Outsiders, especially when there's a mystery to solve.  Tintin previously met Batman in STF #752, and first encountered him way back on a B&B cover from 2010...

Spidey may not be open to switching photographers for obvious reasons - but there's no denying he could use some better marketing.  Tintin previously met Peter Parker when they were both members of The Newshounds in STF #1770...

Tintin, Snoopy and Underdog

 

What's better than dogs?  Dogs in space! I can't imagine what sort of mission would call for the aid of these three pooches, but it might be fun to watch it play out. 

Tintin and The Silver Surfer

 

Tintin must have acquired that beacon when he first met The Silver Surfer in STF #2087.  Let's hope our friend Norrin has a good reason for leaving him stranded.  I'm guessing that the Surfer will not be introduced into the MCU until Galactus is, and that seems like something that will unfold slowly over several years, so it's probably too soon for any casting rumors floating about.  If they want to go with a big name, I still think that Keanu Reeves could be cool in the role.

Here's another idea from the mind of Blog Patron Bob Greenwade. I get lots of suggestions for character pairings where the only connection is a similar sounding name, and they don't always seem to make a lot of sense to me.  Sometimes the incongruity is what makes a cover fun though, so I thought I would finally give this one a try. I hope Bob approves of my choice of villain for this tale!

Aquaman and Tintin

 

Every once in a while I will put on one of the Tintin episodes from the animated series released in the early 90's.  I missed them when they first came out, but they can be found on some streaming services now.  The animation is simple, but works perfectly with Herge's designs, which are adhered to closely.  The series adapted the original stories, so the show always brings back pleasant memories of reading them as I was a kid. I highly recommend the show to any Tintin fan.

These two may not quite match up in terms of power levels, but they both are determined mystery solvers, so I can envision a story where they might cross paths.  I can only imagine what  Captain Haddock's response would be when he realizes that Tintin's back up on this case is The Ghostly Guardan!

The original plans for the Tintin movies was that Steven Spielberg would direct one, Peter Jackson would direct the second, and they would collaborate on a third.  Unfortunately , I have not heard much since the first one was released.  I personally loved the movie and am eager to see more.  I don't know that the box office was very impressive for it though - perhaps that's why the sequels are on hold (hopefully not for good).

Sub-Mariner and Tintin / Human Bomb Vs. the Hulk

As a kid on a very limited budget, I had to make my nickels and dimes count when purchasing comics.  The more heroes the better, which is why I gravitated towards team and team-up titles.  I also liked anthology comics where you would get multiple stories in one issue.  Since the original Super-Team Family fell into that category, I like to feature more than one tale on a cover from time to time, even for non-anniversary issues.

I got a kick out of the fact that Krypto went through the effort of having a secret identity back in the Bronze Age.  In addition to removing his cape and collar, he would create brown spots on his fur with Pa Kent's wood stain - just in case anyone might see a white pooch and realize that he is the dog of steel!  Well, I suppose he couldn't just put on a pair of glasses!

With all of the uncertainty concerning the future of Superman in the movies, I am glad we  at least get to see Tyler Hoechlin reprise the role on the currently in progress CW Elseworlds crossover event.  There have also been rumors that a spinoff  Superman CW series featuring Hoechlin is in the planning stages, something I would be all for.

Tintin, Space Ghost and The Silver Surfer

The Silver Surfer is one of the few characters that came out unscathed in the Fox movies.  I thought he looked and sounded great in the second Fantastic Four film, despite being in service to a lackluster plot and answering to a CGI cloud we were told was Galactus.  I wonder where The Surfer will appear again now that Marvel has the rights back.  A solo film?  A guest Star in a future Guardians of the Galaxy film?  Or maybe even joining Hulk, Dr. Strange and Sub-Mariner for a proper Defenders team?  There are plenty of places to use him, and I hope they don't make us wait too long.

This story serves as a direct follow up to the two-part tale where Tintin met The Watcher, and then had to be tracked down by Green Lantern and Space Ghost... and of course Silver Surfer and Space Ghost have met as well...

Ghost Rider and Tintin

I spoke of Stephen Spielberg yesterday, and it reminded me that we haven't heard of any movement on a sequel to Tintin, which is too bad.  I had understood that Peter Jackson would be directing the second installment, with Spielberg and Jackson collaborating on a third, but I haven't read any updates in a long time.  I hope there are more to come though, I love the Tintin books and the first film was a great representation.

The Newshounds

Reporter is a common seen occupation in the comics, either through supporting characters, the media commenting on a hero's actions or even the alter ego of the hero themselves.  So a team of reporters seems to me like it would lend itself to all kinds of stories.  Especially if the team members all had their own secrets to hide.

Green Lantern and Space Ghost

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see that The Watcher's warning was not an idle one...

I am glad to see that Space Ghost has found a home in comics again in the pages of Future Quest.  Now that DC has a Hanna-Barbera imprint, I hope we will see some real crossovers between the two sets of characters - GL and Space Ghost would be a great place to start.

One of the greatest things about Herge's Tintin stories was the amazing design sense he put into them.  Not only were the tales densely illustrated, he was constantly coming up with interesting characters, outfits, vehicles and locations.  He really got to shine with Tintin's outer space adventures, I loved the look of the spacesuits and rocket.

Chance Falconer and Tintin

I'd love to see Leave it to Chance make a return.  James Robinson and Paul Smith's tale of Chance Falconer trying to fit into the footsteps of her powerful mage of a father as an exciting read with dynamic visuals.  Even if they are too busy to produce new issues, it is a perfect property for adapting into animation or live action.
