Green Lantern and Luke Skywalker

These two seem to be cut from the same cloth in many ways. They both loved the thrill of fast paced action even before they came into possession of some of the most powerful weapons in the galaxy. I think they would fight together well.

Star Wars on The Planet of the Apes

Well, it looks like Princess Leia was concerned about what she discovered on her re-con mission back in STF #3622, and decided to return with reinforcements. Of all the missteps made with the last Star Wars trilogy, perhaps the biggest one was not to have Luke, Han and Leia all together again for at least one scene.  Maybe there will be a way to do that through CGI in the future, but that just wouldn't be the same.

Luke Skywalker and Buck Rogers

The Disney+ Star Wars related shows my not be perfect, but I find them enjoyable to watch for the most part.  One thing that I am grateful for is that we finally get some respect for Luke Skywalker.  I hated what was done with the character in the final trilogy, and his appearances in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have presented him in a much better light.

Star Wars and Star-Lord

It's been cool to see the expansion of some Star Wars locations, first on The Mandalorian, and now on The Book of Boba Fett.  It's been cool to hear the history of Tatooine (once a water planet?) and see the interactions of the different tribes and factions that call it their home. I look forward to finding out if Fett can tame his territory through respect rather than fear as those before him have.

Deathlok Joins Star Wars

This was a team up that I hadn't considered before but once I started to put together, began to really to make sense.  Luther Manning fits right in with the world of Star Wars.

I am always happy to use an image by the amazing Dave Cockrum.  I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of pieces by him several years ago:

Adam Strange Joins Star Wars

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see Adam has found Tatooine's most famous resident along with his friends.  Jabba's not going to know what hit him!  I quite liked this Adam Strange costume redesign by Pasquale Ferry.  It looks a bit more modern while still maintaining the aesthetic of his classic uniform.

Adam Strange and Luke Skywalker

Continued from yesterday's cover, we see Adam has found an ally...

I watched The Clone Wars from time to time but was never that invested in the series.  Still, I was jonesing for more Star Wars after The Mandalorian ended on Disney+, so I decided to watch the final season.  The first episodes are OK, but the series really ends on a high note.  The final four episodes are fantastic and action packed, some of the best Star Wars material since Disney acquired the rights to the franchise.  Plus, they heavily feature Ahsoka Tano, a very cool character that will make her live action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian.

Adam will cross paths with Darth Vader later in his career, as told in STF #2832...

Luke Skywalker and Optimus Prime

I had many issues with Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but the biggest one was the treatment of Luke Skywalker. I had waited decades to see him back in action, and a brief hologram battle followed by his unceremonious death was underwhelming to say the least.  I know that he will be a part of the next installment in some way, so maybe JJ Abrams will find a way to redeem him - With a name like Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, I hope so!

Space Ghost joins Star Wars

OK, so the DCEU is having trouble finding solid footing, but there's no reason that we can't have another series if interconnected superhero movies in addition to Marvel's.  The Valiant Universe looks to be making an attempt to get in on the action, which could be cool - but what I'd love to see is a series of films featuring the Hanna Barbera heroes.  Start with Space Ghost and Spin out the Galaxy Trio, Herculoids, Birdman, Shazzan and more.  The kids who were fans of those shows growing up are now directors, producers and movie executives - Let's finally see those properties get some live action love!

Star Wars and The Justice League of America

Concluding our 4-part tale, we see that The League finally gets to meet the main players in the Rebellion.  I was the perfect age when the original Star Wars was first released - 8 years old.  I remember our parents packing all 7 of us kids plus three of our cousins into the van and going to see it while we were on vacation.  I hadn't even seen an advertisement for it so I had no idea what I was in for.  The most special effects I had seen on the big screen up to that point was Freaky Friday, so my little head just about exploded with excitement from what I was watching on screen.  in those pre-video days, it would be many years before I saw the movie again, but it was already embedded into my subconscious, I was an instant fan of the world George Lucas created.

Luke Skywalker and Swamp Thing

The next Star Wars film has a name now - The Last Jedi.  I am hoping that Luke will make it through all three pictures, especially since he was barely in the last one and the final film will not have Leia - but with a title like that, I am a little worried as to what is in store for him.  Mark Hamill pointed out that "Jedi" can be singular or plural, so that certainly opens up possibilities.

Flash Gordon and Luke Skywalker

Like the main characters in the comedy Ted, I was a big fan of the Flash Gordon movie - first for all the cool trippy visuals and Queen soundtrack, and later for the campy quality of the whole production.  So, it's no surprise that I loved all the humor derived from the movie, and the scenes with Sam J. Jones really cracked me up.  I'm glad he was a such a good sport and rolled with the films over the top attitude.

Luke Skywalker Vs. Aliens

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is steadily making its way to becoming the highest grossing film of all time, and I did my part by attending an opening night screening.  I had a blast, it was great seeing the familiar faces from 1977 back in action once more.  I wasn't expecting that I would enjoy the new characters so much though, I thought they were all compelling and will look forward to seeing more of them in the future.  Some have said that JJ Abrams repeated too many plot points from A New Hope, but that was  not as big of an  issue for me.  The cantina scene was fine, I am sure that Han and Chewie visited more than one bar in their escapades.  I thought having a Stormtrooper disguised as a Rebel was a pretty clever spin on the Rebels disguised as Stormtroopers from the first film.  Yes, BB-8 was another cute droid hiding secret information, but he was so cool to watch, I didn't mind at all.  I will say that a third Death Star type weapon was pushing it a bit though.  My only real issue was that I wanted more Luke Skywalker (which I discussed in an earlier post), but I have confidence that he will have a lot more to do the next time around - at least I really hope so!

The Hulk on Hoth

Wondering where The Hulk flew off to after Avengers: Age of Ultron?  Well, here you go!

The sequel that I have always wanted but never expected to actually see is a thing of reality, and I can't wait to take it in this December.  The teasers for Star Wars, The Force Awakens thus far have shown me precious little of what I really want to see - Luke, Leia, Han and Chewie... but what they have shown has been enough to ramp up my enthusiasm.  I realize that this new trilogy will be about passing the torch to a younger group of protagonists, but I hope that at least for this first installment, the classic Star Wars heroes will be front and center.

Iceman and Luke Skywalker

It was great to finally see Bobby Drake fully ice-up and use his ice slides in X-Men: Days of Future Past, even if he did look a little odd with a beard.  Hopefully we will see more from Iceman in future installments of the X-Men film franchise, now that it teems to have been revitalized a bit.
