This is a confrontation that was destined to happen.  But has Woodstock switched sides? There's definitely more to this story.

Underdog and Snoopy

 

Here's another World's Finest inspired pairing, this time with some canine heroes taking the spotlight.  I think these two would get along famously.  Thanks to Simreeve for suggesting this team up!

 Happy Halloween! As a fan of the It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown , and I wanted to present the type of ending to that story that I would have liked to have seen - I always felt so bad for Linus.

What's better than dogs?  Dogs in space! I can't imagine what sort of mission would call for the aid of these three pooches, but it might be fun to watch it play out.

I'm a huge fan of the Apollo program and love learning new details about the 11 missions.  Also being a lifelong fan of comics, it always pleased me that Snoopy had an association with the space program, even becoming NASA's mascot. It's cool to see two of your passions join forces.

I still fondly remember one of my first stuffed animals from almost half a century ago.  I had a plush Snoopy that I brought everywhere with me.  What is mostly recall is that I had a bad habit of carrying him by his ears and they kept tearing off, so my mother would have to sew them back on from time to time.  Not many memories from those early years stand out, but that's something that has always stayed with me.

I watched The Peanuts Movie, and I thought it was great.  I loved the blending of CGI animation with Charles Schulz' classic character designs and visually everything looked amazing, the best of the old and the new styles.  The story was fulled with heart and humor and really made me root for Charlie Brown.  The main plotline is interspersed with an action thriller featuring Snoopy vs. the Red Baron which was a blast.  If you have kids or were a fan of Peanuts when you were a kid yourself, I highly recommend a viewing.

Tiny Titans and Peanuts

A teaser trailer for then upcoming Peanuts animated feature has been released, and I have to say that I like what I see.  It appears to be a combination of traditional animation and CGI, and it looks to have the feel and spirit of the characters just right.  I hope the whole movie is as enjoyable as what has been shown thus far.  Snoopy, Come Home is still a favorite of mine and it would be nice to have another movie to bring Charles Schulz' beloved characters to a new generation of fans.

The Watcher and Charlie Brown

I have been wanting to use this title for a long time, I just had to find a concept that went with it.  It really bothered me that Marvel decided to kill off the Watcher in one of their recent events.  It looks like the Marvel Universe will be changing soon though, when it gets smooshed with the Ultimate Marvel Universe.  Maybe Uatu will get another chance at life when all is said and done.

The Legion of Awesome!

Who among us comic fans haven't envisioned ourselves as the heroic avengers that we read about?  Many of my favorite cartoon characters have shared that desire and created costumed alter egos for themselves.  Though their identities may be shrouded in secrecy, their thirst for justice always shines through.  They would be a formidable team if they joined forces.

Snoopy Vs. Enemy Ace

One of the great things about Snoopy was the way Charles Schulz let readers in on his imagination.  We went along for the ride as he envisioned himself as Joe Cool, a prize-winning author, or a crack fighter pilot.  I'm sure that aspect of the Peanuts comic strip was one of the many things that served as an inspiration for future cartoonists like Bill Watterson.

The Masked Marvel and Stupendous Man

Calvin and Snoopy are two of the most classic comic strip characters, and they share one major trait in common.  They both have incredible imaginations and picture themselves in all sorts of exciting roles: space captain, world war II fighting ace, private detective, prize winning author, and of course - masked heroes!  The strips that depicted those imaginary worlds are among my favorites, and you can really tell that Charles Schulz and Bill Watterson put their hearts into those adventures.

Metamorpho and Spider-Man

Metamorpho is nowhere to be seen in the New 52 DCU.  The closest we have seen is Element Woman, who looks to be involved with the Justice League at some point, so I had given up on seeing Rex mason anytime soon.  However, with yesterday's solicitations, there may be a glimmer of hope.  Katana #1 says that we will find the sword-wielding hero trying to "restore The Outsiders to their former glory".  Hmmm... so will we see the likes of Metamorpho, Halo and Geo-Force in the future?  We've already seen Black Lightning, but it's a youthified version who hangs with Blue Devil.  Who knows what the other Outsiders will be like when they make an appearance?

The Thing and Snoopy

Like most people of my generation, I have a soft spot for Snoopy. I still remember the stuffed animal Snoopy I had that I would carry around with me everywhere. I would hold him by the ears and my mother kept having to sew them back on. One of the first movies I remember seeing in the theaters was Snoopy, Come Home. I watched that recently and it actually holds up very well, what with the catchy music and psychedelic 70's backgrounds... not to mention an epic fight scene between Snoopy and Lucy! Great stuff! The TV specials and of course the comic strip (second only to Calvin & Hobbes in my eyes) made Peanuts a constant fixture in my house for years. I always felt bad for Charlie Brown and didn't blame him for being depressed most of the time... I mean, the poor kid was bald! That had to be tough.
