The Eternity 8

 

This team is a place to give second chances to some heroes that I thought were taken before their prime.  These being comic characters, a couple of them have actually made a return to the land of the living.  I still wince at the memory of reading Katma Tui's death at the hands of Star Sapphire - that one hurt!

Thunderbird and Booster Gold

 

Thunderbird had a great look (designed by Dave Cockrum, so no big surprise there), and it was too bad to see his time on the X-Men cut so short.  I think his gruff attitude was too close to that of Logan and they didn't want two loose cannons on the team.  It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if he had been kept around.

Thunderbird and Jonah Hex

Thunderbird's death in Uncanny X-Men #95 pretty shocking.  In those pre-internet, pre-spoiler days, I doubt that any fans saw it coming, particularly only three issues into the all new, all different line up.  What's even more surprising is that he never came back to life!
