Johnny Quick and Spitfire

Between their speed powers, color-matching outfits and World War II setting, these two seem as though they were meant to go together.  It was high time that they shared a cover.

Johnny, Johnny, Johnny! Didn't your mother ever warn you against running around with fast women? Find some nice decent belle to settle down with. One who won't take undue liberty with your affections.

;-D

I didn't know female spitfire had speed powers

@my namesake: yep! Side-effect of a blood transfusion from Jim "the Golden Age Human Torch" Hammond. She'd been bitten by her vampirized uncle, Baron Blood, during WWII. And the synthetic blood built into everyone's favorite fiery android was the only type that might not get medically rejected. The rest is publishing history.

Absolutely brilliant. Next time I hope they are battling Nazi criminals and love it when speedsters are keeping count while fighting.

I could see Spitfire teaming with Jesse Quick, for another "fast women" gag. Or even forming a team; how many other female speedsters are there? Any non-Big Two?

@Bob Greenwade: Top Cow's Velocity is the only one I know of.

@Ross: speaking of "speed-stars." Have you ever considered pitting Starro against the Squadron Supreme? Given how they're the original JLAnalog!

Spitfire is not demanding credit for her good deeds. Nice way to meet another HERO!!
Johnny knows lots of people, will he be able to learn more about her? Will he want to?

Female speedsters: XS is another candidate.

Yeah, but you were asking about NON-Big Two.

Bob Greenwade said...

I was going for both; generally, especially non-Big Two.

Though with both Spitfire and XS, this clearly would be a cross-time group.

Anon922 A blood transfusion... from an android? Huh?

Great cover! It's always cool to see All-Star Squadron and Invaders members team-up.

@Ben W: he's right. She was introduced as Jacqueline Falsworth, in April 1976, in issue #7 of "The Invaders". Three issues later, she became Spitfire thanks to the original Human Torch who, like the modern-day Vision, is a synthezoid. Hence, synthetic blood!

These last 4 covers seem like they were meant to be done.

The images on all 4 are flawless & seem natural.

As for other female speedsters = Wonder Woman of Earth 1 & 2, Mary Marvel, Wonder Wabbit, Supergirl & Dawnstar (if her body can withstand travel at light speed in air/space then it easilyshould be able to handle "land speed" while running= She's handled Lazon at his lightspeed in the past) should be considered but I can't recall any outside the Big 2.

I love their logos! Were those your own creation or are they in the Official Comic Book Warehouse of Memorabilia?

JQ logo is from the comics, I made the Spitfire one myself.

@Ross: great job! :-)

Whenever I see Marvel's Spitfire, I can't help but see Firestar from the early 80s cartoon series.
