The Creature from the Black Lagoon truly had an excellent costume design. It looked great in and out of the water and certainly gave me the chills as a kid. Batman's movie serial costume wasn't as much of a success. It looks ok here, but most of the time one or both of his ears was pointing in the wrong direction!

And, worst of all Ross? This happened before he invented Bat anti-shark repellent!
I can just imagine Golden Age Hollywood rewriting Killer Croc to be the Gill Man. Great postulating, Ross! And excellent photo-blending, too. :-)
I've heard of Bat shark repellent, which makes sense, but what are anti-sharks, and why would you want to repel them?
Republic Serial Batman was apparently designed by people who'd never seen a bat before. They gave him horns instead of ears!
That's like asking why big machine guns fire at anti-aircrafts.
And the cape was way too small but the actor couldn't do much with a real length type cape. Tripping everywhere.
Ross, the Serial killers cover: Batman, Superman, Captain America, Green Hornet Vs plan 9 from Outer Space??
I second that motion! :-)
If you want to know my take on this, grab your Bat-Shark Repellant and look up "Walter Gilman" on your favorite music-streaming service (YouTube if all else fails).
I thought Walter was the name of the Airsupra mascot.
Ben W's right, dear boy. Batman was trying to repel a bat-shark. So, "Bat-shark repellent" is 100% grammatically correct.
@Ben and Cary: tomatoes/potatoes.
Maybe he should call on his old pal Aquaman to interpret.
Or a deaf-mute Latina cleaning woman.*
