One has to wonder if this confrontation is due to 007 having his misogynistic way with the wrong female agent. Like, say, the daughter of Golden Agent Senorita Rio?
Nah! I say this Spy Smasher is actually a rogue LMD sent by Hydra to eliminate 007's potential interference in their latest operation.
Spy Smasher, moved out of his time, is looking for someone who looks like he knows what is going on and WANTS info!! James wants a distraction for his plans. Guess who is elected!!
Considering Spy Smasher ended his career at end of WWII it is likely he came out of retirement at prompting by some agency.

Glad to see Fawcett alumni get to shine, but I'd prefer a throwdown with Marvel's Star-Spangled Avenger...if that hasn't been tried already.
