Legion of Super-Heroes and Quantum Leap

I didn't watch enough of the episodes to know if Sam Beckett ever leapt forward past the span of his own lifetime, but I'm sure he never went to the 30th Century.  Future jumps would have been cool to see, though, and made for some fun stories.  Especially if he leapt into the body of a certain Captain Jonathan Archer.

Oh Boy!! Sam never went beyond his time to the future, but he did go into the past before his lifetime via an ancestor. So yes,it would be possible.

While the last episode said he never returned home,, this is Quantum Leap, whose whole purpose was to change things. That could have changed as well... New timelines. (Shades of Flashpoint.)
Youtube has a fan film where Sam has gone into future roles that Scott has done, including this one. Also, it was shown an alternate ending where Al and his first wife remained married and had children - and Al was determined to find Sam.

And YES, I loved this cover.

"Oh boy!" What a cover! Love it!
The final episode of Quantum Leap is one of the times I jumped up off my chair and screamed "No!"

The premise of the series was Sam would leap within his own lifetime, so probably no 30th Century, unless of course he DOESs leap into the 30th Century - because!!

When the NOW Comics series ended, I was excited to read that Dark Horse was set to get the rights, and Mark Waid was supposed to write. I caught up with Mr. Waid, at a signing with Alex Ross for Kingdom Come, and unfortunately, he said that it was not going to happen.

I think it is interesting that now that NCIS: New Orleans has ended, there's a blurb that there may be a revival of Quantum Leap, so who knows?

Sam not only never went forward past his own lifetime, he never went forward past the date of the experiment (except when he and Al switched places, which put Sam at the QL facility a couple of years after) or even past the show's premiere date. But, as Tobor pointed out, the one time he Leaped into the past was when he Leaped into his own ancestor, so theoretically he could've gone far enough into the future to Leap into Capt. Archer -- a scenario I still hope to see here someday.

Perhaps for the STF Universe, Archer is a descendant of Sam. Hmmm

At a convention, I once saw a button that said, "Mr. Data, what exactly did you mean when you said 'Oh, boy?'"

In the back of my mind I have a story where Sam Beckett leaps into Quinn Mallory to help the Sliders get back home while they help him get back too.

IIRC, the first season ending cliffhanger for Enterprise had Archer and crew taken captive and waking up without any idea of where they were. I always thought that the last line of the episode should have been "Oh, boy!"

In the back of my mind I have a story where Sam Beckett leaps into a certain young female morgue attendant who has her own experiences with time travel of a sort. "Tru Leaping?"

Quantum Leap, sliders...
Anybody else here remember 'Time Tunnel'?

Suddenly I have this image where Dr. Beckett does a Leap into Harry Dresden's buddy, Bob.

@Simreeve: I wish I didn't. ;)

@Simreeve & Daviticus: I do! I do! And while it might've been a cheesy one-season wonder, it's still indisputable that it served as inspiration for not only QL. But, also, VOYAGERS, 7 DAYS, and JOURNEYMAN.

@Carycomic: 1) Yes, it is. Just read the parameter guides at the bottom!

2) I bought that issue, as a matter of fact. Not bad! But, definitely not a collectors' item.

3)That private eye's name was Harry D'Amour.

If Brainiac 5 was involved they may have summoned Sam and Al were brought to future to help with a quantum entanglement issue.

I could see other members telling Brainiac 5 "You are risking the timeline." and his response would be my Twelfth-level Intelligence has determined the only way to save the timeline is with help of Sam Beckett.

This looks like a job for Booster Gold!

P.S. @ Carycomic: you forgot the most recent one-season wonder. TIMELESS!

P.S.---I just saw trailers for THE KING'S MAN (coming out Dec. 22).

Was that really ex-4th Doctor Tom Baker as Rasputin?!

I can't say for sure. It sure sounded like him, though!

Btw: I second MIB's recommendation. There's even a credible basis for it. The parentage of Maggie Beckett! Could she be the daughter of Sam's older brother, Tom?*

*Or, more accurately, Tom Beckett's counterpart on that ill-fated parallel Earth.

I would love to see a meeting between Sam Beckett and the second Crimson Avenger!
