Marvel has announced its Phase Four plans with no mention of The Silver Surfer. Kevin Feige did mention that Fantastic Four is in the works, but that will be in Phase Five, at least a couple of years away. My hope is that they mix things up though, and that the Surfer is either introduced in a film of his own or as part of a Defenders team with Dr. Strange, Hulk, Valkyrie and an also newly introduced Namor. Then they can build to the arrival of Galactus, where they can bring in the Fantastic Four in a big team up movie.
These two first met in STF #2030...

What a great image of Dr. Fate.
Have you ever had the Silver Surfer meeting the Metal Men? What about Marty McFly?
Dr. Fate is a character I wish could be crossed over to the MCU. I think they could realize his full onscreen potential. In my opinion, he’s been ill-served by his appearance in ‘Smallville’ and reference in ‘Constantine’.
Cue Dale Smallin and the Surfaris.
Only this cover is only the greatest only cover I have only seen all only day.
The cover is absolutely brilliant! Whatever Dr. Fate was doing in the original cover, it's a magnificent find to convert it into him riding the Silver Surfboard. I'd definitely be curious enough about the story to want to buy the issue
But I do think that Galactus will figure into Phase 5 somehow. The main "Big Bad" for the cosmic side of the MCU is rumored to be Korvac, but I think we'll get to see Galactus in time for Avengers 6.
As for Dr. Fate, I disagree with Toby; the only problem I had with Brent Stait's portrayal on Smallville was that he was killed off too quickly. In the BTS featurette on the "Absolute Justice" double-episode (available on the DVD set), the crew expressed the usual concerns with using a comic-book-accurate costume (identical to this one, minus the shoulder thingies), but the colors looked great in the lighting, and the helmet gave a powerfully creepy sense with the face not showing. With any luck he'll pop up during the Arrowverse Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover -- ideally, bringing back Brent and that same costume design -- and drop by occasionally (probably on The Flash and/or Legends of Tomorrow) just to keep him fresh.
LOVE this image of Dr. Fate. Also: never liked Ron Lim on Silver Surfer, though I did enjoy his work elsewhere.
Here's a pairing that just came to me: Knull, the "god" of the Klyntar symbiotes (such as Venom and Carnage), with the WildCATS member named Void.
Raises the question what would it be like if Batgirl had the power Cosmic? Her mind & personality could make her different from any of the other scouts for the big G.
For that matter, suppose Galactus got caught in a time loop of feeding off a planet.
Would that keep him out of the picture? Or if he were stuck in the Phantom Zone but never got hungry again? Would he stay there?
Cowabunga, Doc! :-)
Anonymous3: I knew I couldn't be the ONLY one who noticed! 😊
I can't believe I missed that.
Doc's image came from atryout series called First Issue Special number 7 I think. I remember it because of how disappointed I was to learn that it was just a one shot. Simonson's illos of Egyptia were awesome .
Well, to be fair, maybe he was able to concentrate on ONLY one thing at a time!
Not everybody can multi-task.
@Tobor: Now there's a thought. Doctor Who vs. Galactus. The big guy wouldn't stand a chance, especially if it's the Tenth Doctor (David Tennant).
On a similar note, I'm still hoping to see Doctor Who cross over with the one Star Trek series that we haven't yet seen on this blog: Voyager. That would allow the Doctor to meet the Doctor.
I second Bob Greenwade's motion! You could call it "Doctor, Doctor"!
@Daviticus: But, would Ross give us the news?
Or, just leave us with a bad case of longing blues?
@Anonymous115: are you Robert Palmer...or Ray Palmer?
