Spy Smasher and Agent Carter

One of the first comics I remember reading was an issue of Justice League that features a JLA/JSA/Earth "S" crossover, Spy Smasher was  just one face in the crowd but he must have made an impression on me.  When I would play "superhero" I would often imagine myself as Spy Smasher in addition to some of the more traditional heroes like Captain America ar Batman.

I remember that crossover, too, Ross!

It occurred roughly a year after the reintroduction of the Quality heroes (now better known as "The Freedom Fighters"). So, naturally, I boned up on them just like I had done the others. And, just like Captain Shazam, himself, Spy Smasher was actually graced with his own b/w movie serial during the Forties! The premise being that Alan Armstrong became Spy Smasher to avenge the death of his brother at the hands of Axis secret agents.

The brother's name, btw, was Jack. As in, radio show adventurer "Jack Armstrong The All-American Boy."

SPY SMASHER for the win! How about a SPY SMASHER / PHANTOM EAGLE team-up in a story that traverses both World Wars?

Or maybe SPY SMASHER VS SPY MASTER.

I just finished watching the Spy Smasher serial tonight! I guessed the identical twin thing would end badly. But Alan is Spy Smasher from the beginning. Jack dies in the final episode, masquerading as his brother.

I remember the PBS channel in Evansville, IN (Channel 9) showing the Spy Smasher serial not long after that JLA-JSA story that reintroduced Spy Smasher was published.
