Blue Beetle and The Fantastic Four
I really liked the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle when he was first introduced - I only had one complaint: Was it really necessary to kill off Ted Kord in order to introduce him? Fortunately, with DC Rebirth, the situation has been rectified. The new Blue Beetle series will feature both Jaime and Ted in action together. I don't know if Ted will be suiting up or only serving in mentor capacity, but it is a huge step in the right direction. I really like artist Scott Kolins' redesign of the Blue Beetle armor as well as the Beetle Bug.

Knowing Doc Doom's proven capacity for over-estimation (remember the college science experiment that facially disfigured him in the first place?), he probably thinks this Blue Beetle is the one with the azure scarab amulet of Khaji-Dha.
I'd rather have Ted Kord as the Blue Beetle. Like Barry Allen is a better Flash than Wally West or Steve Rogers is Captain America I can't get into others taking their name !
How about being creative and let Jaime Reyes be another character rather than just take the place of a well established one ?
I like Ted Kord. I think I kinda missed the Jaime bandwagon. I heard the first Blue Beetle series was awesome. The New 52 Blue Beetle - not so much. I might trade-wait this new Blue Beetle. Two issues a month? That's nuts.
Maybe, in 1967, some fans were complaining about Charlton killing off Dan Garrett in order to introduce Ted Kord.
Nothing is permanent in comics. They have a Big Event where some character gets killed off. It produces a temporary bump in sales, as collectors and speculators buy extra copies of what they think will be a sought-after key issue. Then there is another Big Event six months or a year later when the character is revived. (Or a line-wide reboot where everything gets wiped out and started over.)
And "I will wait for the trade" is getting more and more common.
I've said before on this site that one of my happiest days as a comic collector was when I first heard that DC had purchased Charlton's "Action Heroes". Then I watched through the years as one-by-one they dismantled each of those characters. Today, none of the original Charlton characters exist except in name only. The one that has fared the best is Nightshade and she bares little resemblance to the Charlton character. This is my roundabout way of saying that I never really got into the Jaime Reyes Blue Beetle.
I liked the Jaime Reyes version of BB, at least before Flashpoint, but I liked the Ted Kord version (and bought every issue of his first DC series when it was originally published) too.
Post-Rebirth, a line in the [latest] BB#1 refers to Ted as "a sidelined superhero" and he mentions Nightshade as a previous acquaintance.
Well we have seen Ted Kord suit up with Jaime Reyes and even Jaime Reyes wear Blue Beetle's "armor" and using his weapons and guess what - It is harder than it looks!
