Tintin and Jonny Quest (Part Two)

Now that Tintin has had his big box office debut, it is high time for Jonny Quest to shine on the silver screen as well.  His tales were always packed with adventure, danger, and exotic locales and had all the elements necessary for a fun animation to live action transition.  Hopefully some big time producer who remembers the old cartoons as fondly as I do will get the ball rolling one of these days.

At one point there was talk of Will Smiths' son playing Johnny Quest, but that was a long while ago.

If there's a Jonny Quest movie, I can only hope that those in charge don't try to turn it into a comedy.

I'm sure we all know how well that worked with "Land of the Lost."

I'm guessing that most of the followers who love this blog (like myself) are 'of a certain vintage' and would be shocked to learn that many of today's audiences only know of Johnny Quest as source material for The Venture Brothers references. Episodes may play on the Boomerang Channel but the attempt at a "New Adventures Of..." series came and went in a blink about 15 years ago, and that was after the Comico series was cancelled. Kids today don't recognize the character any more than they would Lancelot Link or George McGovern. Even the live action Nancy Drew bombed. A well thought out Johnny Quest feature film would be a dream come true but my fear is that is studio would be so distracted trying to establish that Race Bannon is not Brock Sampson that they would never allow the characters to just be themselves.

big screen, heck. I just want someone to get the license and put those wonderful Comico issues back into print.
