I've seen speculation that Thanos will appear early on in Avengers: Doomsday, only to be easily defeated by Dr. Doom. While I get that Doom's ability must be established, I hope that this is just a rumor. Such a scene would undermine the events of Marvel's Phase One just as they are trying to recapture the success of it.

@Ross: Don't believe any rumor out of Hollywood till you see a copy of the final print being projected on your nearest hometown movie screen. Because, you're bound to be disappointed, pro or con, more often than not! As for the artwork of your near-namesake? Fantastic! It looks just like something out of his coffee table tome, DC MYTHOLOGY. And that's the highest praise I can think of, to heap on you, this morning. :-)
Kingdom Superman is still a treat, especially after CW's live version of Crisis on Inf. Worlds! Darkseid has been so heavy lately, Thanos just looks like a cousin.
Although, not necessarily a kissing one.
A treat to see an Alex Ross match-up.
I agree with @tobor. In fact, Superman probably thinks Thanos is just Darkseid in a new costume. Ross, what about another match-up between the two mega-ultra-super villains along the lines of twins, separated at birth?
That Dr. Doom versus Thanos idea is already established with a trope name; the Worf Effect. Because to prove how tough an opponent was on Star Trek TNG, easily beating up Worf was usually the way they did it. If they ever change the trope name to the Thanos Effect, I swear I will hurl.
