These two are usually seen together as teammates on The Roustabouts, and I thought that I would give them a side mission for this issue. Let's hope they can turn the table on these two wagering rascals!

... and, in the event of a tie score, Two-Face can always be called in to settle things with a coin toss. ;)
a big top of activity that asks how small a bet would the Grand master be willing to make??
Excellent pairing (in terms of the Bad Guys)! But, as for the conscripted competitors? Well, if this were a real-world comic, most readers would think that Scott Free had an unfairly guaranteed victory on his hands. But, I still remember the reprint of Hawkeye's origin which depicted him and his trick arrows giving Iron Man a surprising run for the latter's (very considerable amount of) money.
Of course, for today's readers, the solution would have to be cleverly complicated. Nothing as simple as the two protagonists exchanging their tech and costumes in order to impersonate each other and thereby snatch victory from the jaws of villainous egotism.
P.S.---how about Hawkman or Hawkgirl getting to meet Disney's Gargoyles?
I'd rather see them take on the entire team from Operation: Hawk (who haven't made a second appearance since STF #531 from September of thirteen years ago)!
Considering how Chess-themed the organization called Checkmate is, wouldn't they seem a good choice for use by the Grandmaster in some future contest? Perhaps one being played against Despero, who (to keep things balanced) would take his "playing pieces" from some Marvel-universe group such as SHIELD or Hydra?
In this face-off, my money's on Scott, though on a technicality. I feel pretty sure that they'd find a way to settle this fight they're forced into with nobody dying, possibly with Roulette going to jail for a night or two, and the Grandmaster getting a verbal comeuppance.
Also, along similar lines to Simreeve's chess-themed idea, I'd like to take this opportunity to revive an old request of mine: Jack of Hearts vs. Marsha, Queen of Diamonds.
And... we really need an ongoing war between Hydra and Cobra.
Whoa! That's even better than my preceding suggestion. Simreeve? You're a genius!
With maybe a father box (Apokoliptian perversion of the mother box), stolen from Intergang, as the mcguffin they're both fighting for!
By the way: has the Grandmaster ever played one of his cosmic chess games against Despero, Mordru, or Felix Faust, here @ The Ross-verse?
Nope! Definitely, none of the above (as yet).
