While the new Superman movie wasn't a smash hit, I'm glad that folks seem to have enjoyed the latest take on the character. And hey, the movie introduced Metamorpho to a much larger audience, so that's cool!
These two first battled in STF #4761, and then again in STF #4807...

Funny that super skrull stretching reminds me more elongated man or plastic man and not Mr fantastic due to color choice
Wow. Stellar cover. Nice job.
Great pairing, great cover. Super Skrull got a huge glow up when he was rewritten during Annihilation. Gone was the crony stooge out to just take a beating and in his place we got a veteran soldier, revered general and deadly assasin. The misused soldier trope taking control of his own destiny at long last was well applied to Kl'rt. I didn't mind him out there just to right a hero, but hopefully this cover is one of those that misleads the spinner rack rummager and the story inside has Rex coming to the Super Skrull 's aid
@Jack_Acid: Like, maybe, to help prevent a take-over of the Skrull race by the Enelsians from ASTRO CITY?
@Ross: I find it a lol-worthy irony that Metamorpho calls himself "The Freak of 1,000 Forms." Because I remember a real-world issue of Brave & Bold where he and Batman had to get past a brainwashed Plastic Man to arrest a power-mad millionairess called Ruby Ryder! Metamorpho becomes a stream of helium only to get inhaled by Plas (who basically calls _himself_ the Freak of a Thousand Forms). Whereupon, Metamorpho changes into an overgrown stainless steel nail to burst back out while simultaneously replying: "I'm the new, improved model. One Thousand and One!"
P.S.---found it! The Brave and the Bold (v.1)/#123 (Dec. 1975).
as the third pitch, Rex has so much more going for him now! Skrull's energy field might make some difference, but not for long.
Introducing Metamorpho (among others) to a wider audience was definitely great, but I loved the movie and Corenswet's new take overall! Hopefully Man of Tomorrow is the smash hit that makes a billion, and cements Gunn's DCU as a long running franchise!
I'm hoping MOT has an Easter egg for the next Capt. Shazam sequel. One featuring Mr. Talky Tawny in purr-fectly earnest conversation with Streaky the Super-cat!
You did NOT just say that. :-|
