Samurai Jack and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

I was happy to hear that Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky will be be bringing my on of my all time favorite cartoons, Primal, back for a third season.  The announcement was a big surprise since season two was years ago, and seemed to wrap up - but I love the new angle that's been announced going forward (which I would mention but it kind of spoils the end of season 2).

Let me guess: Prime Al will be meeting Maxx.

First, it was Clark Kent (@ STF #1770). Then, Peter Parker (@ STF #4392). Now, it appears another Newshound has been betrayed. Methinks Jack and the TMNT better do some questioning of Brenda Starr, toot-sweet!

And later, Access comes along and gives us... Samurai Jack of Hearts!

(Not that I expect that to be even possible to do here, much less see it any time soon.)

I'd even settle for the "video game" JACK OF KINGDOM HEARTS!

Here's a possible photo cover:

The spy team-up we've all been waiting for!

Maxwell Smart!
Johnny English!
Dick Steel!
Austin Powers!

"Bureau Omega"!

Bob, you missed it by ..that much...Would you believe. Inch eye, Private Eye??

Bob Greenwade said...

"Private eye?" These guys are professionals... well, technically, at least.

Alternate name: "The Z Team!" Besides the shout-out to the other end of the alphabet, they can spend half the story arguing about how to pronounce it.

Save Inch High, Private Eye, for membership in the Trenchcoat Trio. The other two being Inspector Gadget and Agent Tom of T.H.U.M.B. (both of whom fought subversive organizations called M.A.D.)!

And, in Agent Tom's case, the acronym stood for "Maladjusted/Anti-social/Darn-mean".

While there are often contradictory rumors that, in Gadget's case, the initials stood for either "Malevolent Agency for Destruction" or "Mean And Dirty" !

Just occurred to me: The Z Team should probably also include Jason "JJ" Jones.

Not Zachariah Zitchin?

Just realized something. If all those guys are British, shouldn't the alternate name be pronounced/spelled "Team Zed"?

Bob Greenwade said...

Only Powers and English are British; Smart, Steel, and Jones are American, and would call it "Team Zee."

I actually was postulating yesterday with a friend about whether the actors would come together for this, using Steve Carrell's Smart and letting Liam Neeson take up the Leslie Nielsen role like he did in the recent "Naked Gun" reboot. We both agreed that they'd all be happy to sign up for it, and even imagined this exchange:

Steel: "I'm here because I have a very particular set of skills." (Proceeds to set his tie on fire, and quickly extinguish it.)
English: "Surely you can't be serious!"
Steel: "I am serious, and don't you forget it!"

I'm afraid I've never heard of Jason Jones (unless he's the one who serves as Jon Stewart's Tim Conway on THE DAILY SHOW). And that other guy sounds like a film star of the 25th letter of the alphabet!

Jason "JJ" Jones is Dave Bautista's character in "My Spy."

Dave who? {Not kidding; dead serious question.}

Carycomic said...

Dave Bautista is the one who played (the watered-down version of) Drax the Destroyer in Marvel Films' GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY trilogy.

Oh, yeah! Right.

I think you can button up about the Trenchcoat Trio, Anon.
