Darkseid Vs. The Inhumans

 

I was a little surprised that I had not pitted these Kirby creations against each other yet.  Let's remedy that right now - it would make for an epic storyline after all!

Dear Ross: Which post-Kirby artist drew this version of Darkseid? He looks more like a Ralph Bakshi mutant from a Heavy Metal magazine story!

that's the look of Bill the Cat from Bloom County! One eye normal with the other microscopic. Sort of how Darkseid sees things. If he didn't have his powers to back him up, he'd give Joker a run for his titles. He's met most of Marvel here already, but Ghost Rider or Nightmare (or Sentry). Does Darkseid have nightmares?
Ross, if you had been working at Marvel, what differences might there had been!

It must've been one of the few times his ink work did not complement the King's artwork. :-(

Actually, I was thinking that Darkseid looks a bit like a Minion. He might borrow a few of the little guys for a short time -- which would make for an interesting cover, I think -- but becoming one? No. Please, no.

After reading these comments, I got the idea just now to have Mr. Mxyzptlk teleport Darkseid right in the center of the Smurf village. Maybe Gargamel had a hand in that act as well.

In the 80s Super Powers show, he was obsessed with making Wonder Woman his bride. Maybe Smurfette would've been his next option after not getting WW down the aisle.

I want this 2-parter so bad now :).

Maybe Papa Smurf was in contact with Supes parents on Krypton (Jor-El & Lara) & told them to send their kid to Smurf Village & they'd look after the tyke only for it to go off course to Smallville.
