There were many factors that went into the underperformance of The Flash, but the character itself was not one of them. Let's hope that we don't have a situation like with Hal Jordan, who was taken out of all movie plans for over a decade due to his movie not hitting the mark. I'm guessing it will take until Justice League: New Frontier is released before we see a new Barry Allen (or Wally West?).

Love this cover, big johnny Rometa at his finest, and it really looks like it’s up to Janet to save the day
i do hope we get a follow up…
I almost didn't see Janet there; her costume blends in a bit with Kingpin's jacket.
Speaking of Kingpin, while I was a guest on a recent podcast on the topic of supervillain origin movies, the question came up of who we'd like to see, and all I could think of was a Disney+ limited series on Kingpin. Some of his backstory was touched on in Netflix's Daredevil, but more could be done in flashbacks while, in present-day, he's dealing with Daredevil, Spider-Man, Echo, Hawkeye II, and maybe Black Widow II -- but even with all these heroes, the focus would be on Wilson Fisk, showing his rise to power in extended flashbacks.
If I didn't know better, I'd swear that this was interior art from THE FLASH v.2/#224 ("The Fastest Man Dead"). In that one, Barry Allen got over-confident and slowed down just long enough to be disabled by ultra-high frequency sound waves. Leading to a beat-down by some gangster's manicurist-cum-bodyguard!
Now, if the Silver Age Flash had been a Marvel character, he'd have been wrapped up in vibranium chains while still unconscious. But, perhaps, even Wilson Fisk can't have every contingency covered. Hence, the order to weigh Barry down with lead, instead!
I wonder if, in this story, the Wasp came to recruit the Flash's help in determining what happened to Hank and Adam following the "cliff-hanger" at the end of STF #4116?
Not much left to be added. Great cover on its own.
P.S. @ Sam Elliott (co-star of the first Ghost Rider movie): Happy 79th birthday, partner!
