Kamandi and The X-Men
Presenting Part One of a Two-Part Epic! Kamandi was a character that I liked every time I saw him in guest appearances, but I only ever read a couple of issues of his own series. Is it worth seeking out? Make sure you stop by again tomorrow for the thrilling conclusion!

For the art of the King, definitely.
That was VERY personal taste.
Uncle Ben meet Ben Grimm meet Ben Boxer. At least we never suffered from the Ben-ds.
Was Solomon Grundy the origin of the Great Disaster? The Patient Zero of the Zompocalypse?
This combo takes me back. The King in all his glory. I only wish I could actually get hold of the darn thing.
Talking of the King, how about a reteam of Kamandi with Kazar?
Personally I think it'd be fun to have an all-Kirby cover, except for Elvis Presley (since Kirby never drew Elvis as far as I can determine). King meets King!
I'll be looking forward to tomorrow's Part Two!
I was 12 when Kamandi #1 came out. I thought it was okay, not Kirby's best, but I bought it occasionally after that. Then my father read an issue, and he really liked it. I started buying it regularly, and tracked down the issues I missed. It was the first comic that we bonded over. (Several years later, "Jon Sable, Freelance" was the second.)
Kamandi's plot lines, concepts, and dialog/captions were pure Pulp and if done in prose would have fit nicely in Amazing Stories next to a John Carter of Mars serialization. And the art was Kirby being Kirby without editorial oversight. At the time it wasn't my thing, but I've come to appreciate it for what it was after a couple of re-readings.
Anything by Jack Kirby is great. How you ever imagined a 1930s or 1940s Logan (Wolverine) meeting Doc Savage?
Or, failing that, Logan/Wolverine meeting Logan 5 (from "Logan's Run")?
I'd rather see Logan 5 meet Wesley Dodds (SANDMAN VS. SANDMAN).
@Carycomic: Since everyone else is requesting a further tribute to Jack Kirby, I'd recommend Logan 5 vs. Dr. Garrett Sanford in "Sandman vs. Sandman."
so much talking about the king made an idea for a mash-up cover come to mind...
Elvis the King of Rock who has made an appearance here before....
and Jack "the King" Kirby.....
well Ross what do you think????
is it a doable????
you are the King of Comic Crossovers, Ross, and always exceed expectations as like today team-up time.....
Kathmandu was a variation on Planet of the Apes. Imagine the X-men there? All the intelligent animals would be looking to capture them. Would those animals be in for a surprise.
That was Kamandi.
We could always get a gathering of Logan 5, Wesley Dodds, Flint Marko, Sanderson Mansnoozie, and Dream, for a team du jour as The Sandmen.
Wouldn't that make them "The Sandstorm"?
Only if Flint Marko married Ororo Munro. ;-)
Oh, please, no! Ross forbid!!
That's worse than your periodic calls for "Storm Storm."
One of Jack Kirby's weirdest series but also one of my favorite ones growing up as a teenager in the 1970s. The Kirb issues at least are worth the read. later ones not so much.
