The Metal Men meet Giant Man & The Wasp

I was happy to see Michelle Pfeiffer posting a workout video in preparation for return as Janet Van Dyne in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.  I was hoping that the original Wasp would see some more action this time around and it looks like I may get my wish.  If Pfeiffer also returns as Selina Kyle in The Flash, it will be even better!

A living cartoon dream. Giant Man and Wasp getting some more air time. Metal Men are always welcomed here.

hey Ross, how about one of your wonderful live action photo covers of the Wasp and Catwoman together for a double Michelle Pfeiffer.....
if possible Michael Keaton as both Batman and the Vulture would be above and beyond....
this cover is very cool and one i would snatch off the spinner rack to read for sure....

Seeing Platinum so scared feels wrong. She is just as good as the others. It's strange that DC is willing to try to bring back some form of the Metals, but can't get a better version than the original.
Particles by Magnus, Pym, and Palmer. An MPP player/viewer for VR like no other.

That's good news, all right! We may get some flashback action with Michael and Michelle (who I just realized have basically the same first name). It'd also be interesting to see if there's any talk of a new code-name for Janet (though I have no suggestions based on Earth-616 history).

I agree with HHH, though. It's always great to see the Metal Men around here. I think it might be interesting (perhaps in a 100-page Giant) to see them paired off with various Marvel heroes: Platinum and Jocasta, Mercury and Quicksilver, Iron and Iron Man, Gold and the Silver Surfer... not sure about Tin and Lead, but I think you get the idea.

(And yes, I know that Jocasta's appeared with the Metal Men before, as has Iron Man more than once. I'm talking individual pairings here.)

@jack-el: We've actually seen the double Keaton cover -- in fact, it was sort of two-and-a-half, with reference to a third character who doesn't actually appear in the picture. I second the double Pfeiffer cover, though. (I'm also still hoping for a double Reynolds cover, and maybe even a quadruple Brolin.)

On a related note, I think it's about time for a Danvers Twins photo cover.

"Magnus particles?!" Never heard of them before.

Seriously, though: considering all the ret-conning DCWB's already done for their superhero flicks (to compete with Marvel Films), I'm worried they might reintroduce Michelle Pfeiffer purely as a mentor for the "new" Catwoman.

Patience Phillips. :-(

This is just full of Silver Age goodness. (Hmm. How come Silver was never a Metal Man - or Lady? Hmm 2. If you haven't paired the Metal Men with the Silver Surfer then... No, sorry, you must have.)
Again seamless. These guys just look as if (excuse me) they are all on the same page... And Wasp and Platinum are facing up to the real threat.

@Davejonz: In Brave and the Bold #55 (a Metal Men/Atom team-up), it was revealed that Doc Magnus once created a Uranium Metal Man, but had to deactivate him because his responsometers was defective and made him hate humans. Somehow he was reactivated, and built himself a Silver girlfriend.

@Davejonz: there was once a renegade bunch of Metal Men where Silver was a Roman-crestd version of Gold. Along with Cobalt as a villainous counterpart of Iron; Zinc in place of Tin; etc. etc. etc.

@Bob and @anon, thanks for the Silver information.

@Ross: "Megabots?" Does that reference mean there's going to be a part 2 featuring Big Hero 6?

@Cary: I'd be OK with Patience appearing in The Flash as an alt-universe Catwoman, if Halle Berry is willing to reprise the role; but for the DCEU, where Ben Affleck is playing an older Bruce Wayne (Ben's 48), I'd rather see a similarly-aged Selina Kyle, with Nightwing and Huntress on the scene and Holly Robinson taking up the Catwoman mantle.

@Carycomic: maybe Bob Greenwade could get Jedi Master Porky-wan Kenopig to help with that (see STF #3343).

Porky and Tin? Now, that would be an interesting pairing. Maybe even throw in Piglet for good measure.

But for "Metal Men in the Marvel Universe"? Maybe Tin with Flatman (an oblique reference to tinfoil). For Lead, though, the best I can come up with is the Hulk.

say wouldn't Ironclad from Marvel's U-Foes be a closer fit to Iron from the Metal Men????

Bob Greenwade said...

@jack-el: Possibly, but Iron Man is higher-profile.

On another topic, I'd love to see Tin with Tintin and Rin Tin Tin.

Nah! Then you'd have all their foes calling them "The Tin Types."

In these days of massive pc, would PTB allow Porky to have a massive stutter?

PTB? What indies do they publish?

@Anonymous821: It stands for "Powers That Be." As in, the unseen cosmic forces Buffy Summers and Angel worked for in Sunnydale and (literally) beyond?
