Ghost Rider and Casper

It's not a surprise to me that Harvey Comics were so popular during my formative comic reading years.  They had an interesting roster of characters and their house art style was appealing to my young eyes.  The short one to six page stories were perfect for a young reader and made the comics a great entryway to more complicated stories.  I do wish there were more creator credits though, it's tough to determine which artists and writers were responsible for what.

And with Wendy, you have a Terrific Three some to grace your cover. The age of innocence.

Can you have part 2 with Casper and Han? Since he believes in the force, seeing Casper should be interesting. Fun. fun. fun.

Ah, also having Casper on Nightmare sharing a cover with the western Ghost Rider and his horse In the day or night could be different.

@Det. Tobor: What the "Blazes" are you trying to do to poor Ross? Drive him to exhaustion?! ;-)

With his self-appointed workload, that'd be a frighteningly short trip. :-(

There's not a ghost of a chance of that. That would be everybody's Nightmare.

What Tobor said is what I thought this was going to be, when I saw Casper on horseback. That doesn't make this any less an interesting cover. Even a Harvey-ized story with GR would have to involve Casper quickly discovering how "less-than-friendly" the Spirit of Vengeance really is.

Since Comment Deleted mentioned Wendy, it might be fun to see her teamed up with Sabrina, or joining the Coven.

Another team I'd like to see again is Blind Justice; it'd seem an appropriate way to bring up reports of Charlie Cox being in the new Spider-Man film. Alternately, you could team Daredevil with Doctor Midnight (Beth Chapel, the only member of the legacy who has yet to appear on this blog) to also talk about the new season of Stargirl.

PS (general audience): It took me a while, but I did finally figure out an easy way to tell Charles McNider from Pieter Cross. Dr. McNider's tunic splits below the belt, while Dr. Cross' has a flap.

Love it!

I think Spooky would have something to say about this. ;)

PS: Next time you do a photo cover, Ross, you might consider sneaking Bernie Sanders into the background without saying anything. (Maybe Spider-Man vs. Mr. Freeze or something.)

I've got a photo cover coming up this Monday that may be my favorite I've ever done. But then again I'm weird so I don't want to over hype.

Wouldn't Hotstuff have been a more appropriate choice for GR?

Next time put the horse on the hog. That'll freak everyone.

He'll look like a Kymellian Spirit of Vengeance. Either that, or an albino Knight of Wundagore.

@Cary: Sir Horace the Horse-faced, perhaps?

A Marvel/Disney allusion, of course.

The style on the Harvey characters looks like the work of Ernie Colon to me. He drew a lot of comics for Harvey.

i ONLY STOPPED READING Harvey BOOKS because 7 11 stopped carrying them around 1975 or 1976, and when we moved to Lakeside (now known as Pinetop-Lakeside)in the Summer of 1977 they never carried them anywhere to my knowledge.

@Brother Kelly Matthew: have you tried Earth-41119?

Brother Kellymatthew said...

@Carycomic there were no interdenominational conveyances/transports/portals/doorways/windows in Lakeside AZ, and neither Doctor Who, nor the Sliders ever came by for a visit, so no I did not. DOUBLE Plus Good I did not know there was an Earth-41119 when I was a Lad.
