Vigilante and Dazzler

In my younger years, I did lots of theater and musicals.  Acting was one of my passions right alongside comic collecting - so it's no wonder that I have a soft spot for characters that are performers as well as superheroes.  They may seem a little hokey to others, but I always got a kick out of them.

They could open for The Impossibles....

Ha!
Vigilante was an interesting character. Country singer by day; masked crime-fighter off-stage...

I kinda like the idea here because I enjoy most genres of music, and can see them ending the case on stage singing "I'm a little bit country & I'm a little bit rockn'roll" Seriously I'm thinking this could the formation of a team, of music/singing based heroes, I'm thinking Songbird, Sticks & his band Powercord from Astro City.

Considering Brave and Bold, you can also add many of DC characters: Batman (Piggy) with Black Canary, Huntress and Catwoman (Masks of Matches Malone) and the cast from Music Meister.

Gene Autry would be proud. :-)

Another musical superhero, though not from comics: Sapphire (alias pop singer Corazon "Corrie" Valenzuela) from the Champions RPG.

@Bob: Cool! Pit her against GL Hal in "A New Star Sapphire Is Born."

And there’s Lila Cheney from X-Nen and to go more obscure, Sleepwalker for Lullaby and Marvel’s attempt at a crossover sensation Night Cat
DC also had a few obscure ones like Kid Flash’s pal Silver Mask and Teen Titans friends the Flips
And the Maniaks! I should stop now lol

I think I started something else here... again LOL

And then again, we can turn to Pokemon for Jigglypuff.

@Anon: Against Hal? No, I think we should let Corrie fight Carol Ferris. On the whole, though, I'd rather focus on her musical side unless she's with the overall Champions team. (In both cases, assuming Ross can find an appropriate image for Corrie.)

Oh! How about this for a team name?: The Choir!

Unrelated, totally crazy idea that came to me just moments ago:

Aquaman meets Cecil the Sea-Sick Sea Serpent (with or without Beanie).

@Bob: alright, then. Corrie/Sapphire vs. Star Sapphire vs. Starfire fighting over...Starfox of Titan!

Roy (Speedy, later Arsenal) Harper belonged to a rock band called "Great Frog" for a while.

He used to have his own comic, too; and so did Roy Rogers, Dale Arden, Pat Boone... and KISS!

(And the Ramones had a team-up with Archie...)

I thought the Impossibles looked cool in Future Quest comics where they more realistic-looking than in the animated cartoon where they, though syndicated with Alex Toth designed characters (Birdman, Mighty Mightor, etc.), were designed like human characters in "Secret Squirrel", "Atom Ant", etc.

Carycomic said...

That's because the Impossibles were meant to be a half-serious spoof a la the live-action BATMAN '66. Whereas series like SPACE GHOST, BIRDMAN, et al. were meant to be almost dead serious adventure dramas (a la JONNY QUEST:TOS). Hence, the more realistic human outlines among the latter animated figures.

P.S. @ Simreeve: and, when you think about it, even the Archies were occasionally superheroes! At least, in their eponymous comic books.

OOPS!
that should have said "Dale Evans", not "Dale Arden"... different person altogether.

I can’t believe no-one has mentioned Josie and the Pussycats (whether or not in outer space)

I was going to say "Not to mention Josie and the Pussycats..." But, I then, I thought...

"Naaaaaaaah! Everybody hates that old joke."

From the way he's realigning his Stetson, the Vigilante apparently doesn't know what to make of the Dazzler and her lame silver (I mean, silver lame'!) outfit.

Hi, ho, Silver, away!
