The New Teen Titans and She-Hulk

I was on the fence about DC's upcoming streaming service, but I think I am going to have to give it a pass for now.  The trailer for Titans did not make a great first impression - the tone seemed off, as if DC had learned nothing from their cinematic mistakes.  The promise of a deep DC movie collection as well as comics that can be read on screen is fine, but frankly won't offer me very much that I haven't seen or isn't already in my collection after a lifetime as a fan.  Still, I have hopes for The Doom Patrol, Stargirl and Swamp Thing series - once those are released, and if they are quality productions, I may give the service another look.

Nope. Just...nope.

I'm taking a pass too, but that animated Constantine stuff by J.M. Dematteis does have me intrigued.

Given that without paying for their new service I already watch Flash, Arrow, Legends, Supergirl, Black Lightning, Gotham, Vixen etc., as well as Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, the Defenders, Cloak and Dagger, Wynonna Earp, SHIELD, Gifted, Legion, and so on and so on, I'm just not clear on why I need another subscription service for comicbook-based TV.

The Teen Titans trailer absolutely did nothing to change my mind. It seemed to scream out that the horrid examples of most of the recent DC movies (exclusive of Wonder Woman) rather than the good example of the DC/CW efforts was guiding them, and that's way not my cup of tea. I suppose the fact that Greg Berlanti is involved may mean that the series is a lot better than the trailer looks to be, but…

After experimentally going to see the recent Teen Titans animated feature at a local retro-chic drive-in theater, this past summer, I confess that I'm equally leery about anything that offers a live-action version of same via the Internet.

For me, the best tele-versions I ever saw of them still remain the Filmation quarter from 1967-68.

I'm pretty much where you are, Ross, except for comic ownership (I have nearly none, other than the first wave of Amalgam comics and the TPB collection of Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe). Kicking off with this incredibly dark tone, even considering Robin's and Raven's backgrounds, is a huge mistake. Having apparently no ties to the Arrowverse seals the deal; I'm waiting until some later date.

Hopefully, as you say, things will work out better with Doom Patrol. (Swamp Thing really should be dark in tone; the others, not so much.)

Good one.

Hey, have you ever considered a scientifiction trio of John Carter of Mars, Doc Savage, and Tom Strong?

Not interested in the streaming service.

As for the cover, great job. Byrne's and Perez's styles mesh well.
