It looks like Marvel pulled a fast one (SPOILERS for those not caught up on recent X-Men events), by promoting one superhero wedding and giving us another instead. Rather than Colossus and Kitty Pryde getting hitched, it was Gambit and Rogue who tied the knot at the last minute. It will be interesting to see where that development takes each character going forward.
A big thank you goes out to Philip Pfeiffer for not only supporting the blog, but suggesting this match up!

Damn, another no-brainer/duh moment with this selection. Good idea Philip.
cool concept would love to see mr mxyzptlk vs q
I guess that means it'll be Dick Grayson and Babs Gordon who get hitched at the last second (after Bruce and Selina call things off).
This, as Dale said, is a natural and brilliant pairing.
Somehow, my brain had registered the Royal Flush Gang as being spades rather than clubs. I also don't remember Ace ever speaking, in any version of the gang, but clearly I'm remembering that wrongly (even without your speech balloon, he's clearly talking in this art).
As for Gambit, I was just thinking about him yesterday, and how interesting it'd be for him to face The Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight. That story would be sure to be a blast.
Bob Greenwade: Over the years, various versions of the Gang have used spades instead of clubs, and in at least one version of the Gang, Ace was a non-speaking android. But the original version, from JLA #43 (1966) has the Ace of Clubs (who turns out to be Amos Fortune) shouting "Nothing beats the Royal Flush Gang" on the cover.
To reiterate others, this cover just makes sense. Another great one Ross!
I'm still hoping for a Batman/Vulture cover in homage to Michael Keaton's work on the silver screen. Maybe when 'Far from Home' gets closer to release.
Jay: Thank you. That does make me feel better.
I also recall one iteration of the gang where the Ace turned out to be a disguised Joker. (And nobody ever pointed out at the time that, in poker, a joker is good for aces, straights, and flushes -- in this case, all three!)
@Tim: maybe Ross could do "Birdman Meets BIIIIIIIIIIIRD MMMAN!"
Nothing wrong with hope, Tim. It's just too much to expect. ;-)
