Power Girl and Valkyrie

I'd love to see these two heroines share an adventure together.  While they have the power of characters like Superman and Thor, their personalities  are decidedly different.  Impulsive, quick tempered and ready to battle at a moments notice, they are also loyal to their allies until the bitter end. I'm not sure if they would find fast friends in one another or if they would clash, but it would be a fun read.

This would have been an appropriate adventure for the Power Girl of the period between the original Crisis and roughly 2000, who had been retconned as being Arion's granddaughter, and whose quasi-Kryptonian power actually came from magic.

It appears I stopped buying Marvel comics post Jim Shooter "Fans are idiots" phase and missed the change of costume to her wearing pants. It makes more sense than the armless and legless swimsuit and high boots she used to wear.

She would have fit very well in recent Amazons series at DC where the Amazons went to Valhalla.

Like any such team-up, back in the Seventies, there would probably be some kind of initial mistaken identity slug-fest. Followed by the boastful introduction of the real antagonist and his/her latest plot to conquer the world.* And then the fateful alliance of convenience, via setting aside of previous differences. Ending with their narrow victory, followed by separate departures in mutual gratitude and grudging respect.

*Or, in this case, Nine Worlds.

In Marvel Super Hero Squad, Ms. Marvel had a long-legged outfit. But at least the artwork had for a "freak show".

Val definitely looked better in the Silver Age leotard with the Madonna-esque bra.

Glenn Host- I believe she started wearing this outfit during the Fear Itself mini-series and its follow up where she hunted for the weapon hammers from the series.

This is a pair I'd like to actually see together in an actual comic. Hopefully, at some point in the future Marvel and DC will do another crossover where that can happen. And I think Cary has the right idea for the relationship arc, except that I think that the two women would part as friends.

Ross, this is one of your most seamless covers. It looks like it was originally drawn this way. Everything came together beautifully. Well done!

Appreciated, Tim!

I re-read the post-Crisis revision of Power Girl's origin, which placed her birth in ancient Atlantis, and it seems the powers of that version of the character came from magic and science both.

In my defense, I was no more confused than the DC mythmakers themselves were. ;)

"Then thou must have been confused, indeed."
