Doctor Fate Vs. Doctor Doom

This is a match up that I could definitely see happening.  Doom is always searching for new sources of power, and I am sure he would want to make an attempt at harnessing the magic of Nabu.  Fate would not go down willingly of course.  I see the battle to be pretty evenly matched, especially if Doom has home turf advantage.

I agree with you, Ross. This would promise to be one exciting comic! I'd certainly want to read the story inside!

(And it brings me back to something I haven't said in a while: DC and Marvel would probably do quite well publishing this comic for real, as a monthly or even weekly publication, with you as editor. Comic fans would eat it up... after reading it, of course.)

I'll go you one better, Ross. I would buy a real-world version of this crossover, in a New York minute, over yesterday's issue!

Now, before your more rabid fans start gathering to burn me in effigy, let me explain what I mean. Bullseye might have unerring aim (which I've always suspected to be a low-level form of telekinesis). But, it's never helped him against Daredevil. So, I think it would be twice as useless against Ray Palmer's Atom. The latter, being able to shrink to the literal size of a dust speck, would simply do so and enter one of those open eye holes to make the guy blink! When he did so?

Instant re-enlargement followed by a knock-out punch.

With Drs. Fate and Doom, however? We would almost be guaranteed of a knuckle-whitening magical knock-down/drag-out fight. Especially, if this Doc Fate was the relatively inexperienced hermaphrodite from the post-Crisis Bronze Age!

Now that is a great cover. Doctor Fate is one of the most underrated characters in the comic book world.

Thanks, Bob Cary and Wolfhammer!

Cary - what if those throwing stars are dipped in toxins, even one strike could dull the Atom's powers and even the playing field...

The two operative words being "what if." It was just before his Silver Age team-up with Zatanna that he developed the glove-mounted auxiliaries to his size-and-weight control belt buckle. Two Peter Parker-style flicks of his wrists? And he's instantly below danger range of any shurikens.

I like how Dr. Doom has apparently been brought low by the Kent-ster... too often we see the likes of him on covers or splash pages in a triumphant pose.

Who was he cowering from in the original version of this cover? Was it the Silver Surfer?
