Hawkman and Darkhawk

Hawkman has to be one of the most difficult characters to pull off in live action.  The helmet is tough to get to sit right on the head and look good from all angles, bare arms on a costume tend to appear scrawny unless the actor has a huge build, and wings often come off as too CGI-looking.  Still, films like Malificent show that it is possible to have a great looking winged character.  If done with care, Hawkman could be very impressive on the big screen, and I hope we get the chance to see that one day.

Although Smallville went with the re-incarnation aspect of Hawkman, the "Winged Warrior" is probably difficult because, which Hawkman do you go with? The Egyptian Pharaoh, or the Thanagarian Space Cop? I think the Egyptian myth is more interesting, but in a sci-fi age...Katar Hol just seems redundantly redundant. He's an alien that prefers medieval weapons...Okay. It's a shame he doesn't stand out from Adam Strange and the Green Lantern Corps.

How 'bout we call him what he is? Thor with wings. I'm cool with that, because ancient Egypt is pretty much like Asgard, isn't it?

I've heard Conan with wings, too. The Smalville Hawkman was a valiant attempt, but really didn't do the character justice visually for me.

Now, if you had put Static with this image -- http://retconpunchdotcom.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/robian-toddler-damian.jpg, we could have Shock and AWWWWWW...

(Oh, and I like the cover you had, but I have yet to find a cover of yours I don't like, Ross.)

The Hawkman on that NBC superheroe special, back in the Seventies, was way cooler.

It's hard to do a live action Hawkman without reminding people of "Flash Gordon"... or "Barbarella".
