Super Goof and Dynomutt

I didn't follow too many funny animal type comics when I was growing up, I was all about the superheroes.  Now, when the cartoon characters we also superheroes, that was a different story.  Disney comics were another exception.  Even though the stories skewed a bit young for me, I always had to check them out because of the gorgeous artwork within.

Love that joke! "Keeping the city safe"!

Super Goof was one of my favorites, too!

It seems that by the 1980s, funny animal comics had practically disappeared. Only Harvey (Richi Rich, Hot Stuff) was left on the newsstands in Brooklyn. Archie Comics didn't have any, and I don't even recall seeing Disney comics to tell the truth. I wonder what happened? What made the companies stop targeting the pre-school set? Marvel did, come to think of it, publish The Care Bears and Strawberry Shortcake, which I brought for my little sister. Maybe "funny animals" as a concept transformed from 1940s talking animals to the 1980s- Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles/My Little Pony/Rainbow Brite? Anyone have any thoughts on this???

Like Konsumterra, I think a team with these two plus Underdog and Hong Kong Phooey would be great. Throw in Scooby-Doo, and use the Road Rovers in a backup story, and you're good to go.

Even without that, this is a great team-up. I've been waiting to see Super Goof on this site, and this did not disappoint.

Now to see Darkwing Duck somewhere in the mix -- perhaps with Underdog, in a "World's Finest" spoof.

Darkwing was a member of fowl force, and will appear on another upcoming cover as well. This is not thelast you will see of Super Goof either...

Also, HKF, Underdog and Dynomutt have already appeared together as part of Ace and the Dogs of War.

Great movie on Cartoon Network this past weekend was Scooby Doo and the Mask of the Blue Falcon.
I suggest you all try to watch it sometime for its great tribute to Hanna Barbera super hero characters.

Warpath, Scalphunter, and Arak Son of Thunder! And I'd like to see a cover with as many African-American Superheroes that you could fit on a page!

I was always partial to Captain Carrot and his Amazing Zoo Crew when it came to animal superheroes. But Peter Porker the Spectacular Spider-Ham was cool too.

...and that just screams for a Peter Porker/Captain Carrot team-up.
