Batman and Flash Gordon

I think that Batman and Flash Gordon would be an interesting team up to see in the comics because of their mutual roots in the old black and white cliffhanger movie serials.  Despite their quite obvious lack of big budgets, I have always found those serials to be quite charming and some of the stunt work and plot twists are pretty effective.  What would have been really cool is a serial from those days combining these two action stars in one epic adventure!

Dave sez,

Sweet!
I would love to see someone like J.J. Abrams tackle Flash Gordon, with Lucasfilm special effects! Take Flash back to the original concept...I've not seen the SyFy series...

The Sam J. Jones Flash was pretty cool in a cheesey way...The soundtrack was...interesting...

The Flash Gordon will be reissued as a remastered/expanded set either later this year or early next year. Queen is celebrating their 40th anniversary by putting their whole catalog out in 'definitive' versions in batches. The first batch was this spring.

DC had the license for Flash Gordon in the late 80's, long enough for a Baxter maxi-series. I don't remember them even attempting a DCU crossover (Adam Strange would have been nice; and didn't Flash meet the original hawkmen?). The trade dress for this looks to be about 1973. Was Flash still at Gold Key then? Reprints only?

Ross:
The more covers you produce for this blog, the more I keep wishing these were REAL comic book stories/issues.
Keep up the great work!
