Every box office forecast I have seen for Blue Beetle indicates that it expected to be another DC movie dud. The trailers look ok, I'm not sure why the movie isn't clicking with people. Perhaps Warner Bros should not have announced a whole rebooted DCU before they were done releasing all the movies from the previous iteration. James Gunn has indicated that Blue Beetle will be showing up in the new DCU even though his movie is not necessarily connected. Yeah, I don't really get that either, maybe that's why it hasn't moved the needle.

Well, speaking purely for myself, I think the lack of expectations for this movie have several reasons. First of all, it's on the downhill side of summer premieres; the second week of August. Secondly; the uncertainty of where in the DCEU continuity it's going to fit. I mean, the recent Flash movie was basically a silver screen treatment of the "Flashpoint" story arc from the mainstream comics! So, when (in the canonical trailer) George Lopez refers to Batman as a fascist, is he comically exaggerating the crime-busting of the George Clooney version? Or is he accurately describing the violent vigilantism of the Robert Pattinson version?* Last, but not least; is the exo-skeletal costume an extra-terrestrial device that was salvaged by a corrupt corporation? Or did the script writers needlessly revise it to be purely of high-tech Earthly origin?
Let the speculation and debate commence.
Admittedly, that second supposition is a reach (no pun intended).
maybe get Beetle Bailey and the Beatles in there somewhere. Have you done an All Insect team. Blue Beetle, Ant Man, Wasp, Insect Queen, the Fly, etc?

While I agree with Anon@8:36 with regard to the first and third possible reasons for lack of potential movie-goers' faith in the upcoming Blue Beetle movie, the second possible reason strikes me as having nothing to do with that, whatsoever!
I haven't seen the trailer, but I'd actually be interested in seeing the Blue Beetle movie if not for WB's open apathy about domestic abuse.

I'm glAD! Do you hear? GlAD!! Stan Lee screwed DC bigshots when he made Marvel one continuity. That made stories better. DC didn't care, they just saw things changing and tried to catch up. And have rebooted their universe how many times now?
Used to be every 20 years..., now, it's every 20 months. Ted getting killed by another hero who was a fake?? Max Lord who was killed by Wonder Woman, but has still been brought back to life with that memory.
DC used to be so good..stories like Death of a Legend where Batman saves the Wayne family of a parallel Earth and young Bruce wants to become a Batman out of gratitude.
Or the Superman story, For the Man Who Has Everything. There are many others, but
the quality has not been the same in recent times.
The Flash movie brought the least like Batman back (because of WB's new partner)?
WB needs to reevaluate if movie fans want to keep seeing reboots....well, Bond did it, right???
i would like to see how the highly educated and intelligent beetle would deal with a near dropout but weapons over equipped Alien Armour skinned one.
no interest in the forthcoming film at all. after sitting through Black Adam i have lost interest in the DC movies.

@Anon@12:11: Actually, I think she already is no longer on the payroll. The thing is, WB stuck by Peter Safran's casting choice, and now have quietly just set her aside, as opposed to just blatantly recasting Grindelwald.
When another actress takes up Mera opposite Jason Momoa's Aquaman, I'll consider the matter adequately settled.

I'm as likely to see the Beetle movie as I am almost any other superhero flick, as I'm a fan of the character(s). Biggest issue I have with the trailer I've seen is that it looks like a superhero story that's been told a million times before. I didn't see anything to make it stand out at this point in superhero movie history other than that it has a hero I've been wanting to see on the big screen, but I'm SURE that last part is nowhere close to true for the general moviegoing public.
Great jobs on some clever ideas here lately but I noticed that the only Star Trek captain to get their own label on the left is Kirk. Any plans for Sisko, Janeway , Archer etc. on the horizon?
I don't think you've ever commented on Voyager stuff which is interesting that neither Kes nor Seven of Nine have any labels to their credit.
Their show's repeat villainess Seska would make a great cover with some other baddie too.

He had to have appeared on thousands of covers over the years. A battle with him & another character taking on the greedy Ferengi would be interesting as I recall he had a super hero identity for awhile there...

@Cary: They substituted Mads for Johnny on a mere accusation. Evidence later came to light that the accusation was false; that same evidence shows that his accuser was, in fact, the perpetrator. There was no chance to reinstate Johnny into the role, since the Wizarding World movies are basically done with; but the actual perpetrator was hired back for her role despite widespread outcry and protests, and WB's (and DC's) only statement has been Peter Safran's "have to do what's best for the film" statement, followed a few months later by him being put in charge (alongside James Gunn) of all DC activity. That's apathy toward the issue at best, and a gigantic middle finger to abuse victims at worst.

I'm mostly just a fan of the original Trek Crew and TNG... the other shows never grabbed me as much. But anything's possible and characters from other shows may eventually appear.
