Martian Manhunter and The X-Files

There has been talk of an X-Files revival in the works.  I hope it's a continuation and not a reboot, I don't have much interest in seeing new actors portraying Mulder and Scully.  A new set of agents in a current day X-Files department could work though.  Let's hope they actually have some answers and closure to the cases they investigate though - The first show left way too many things unresolved.

Yeah! And the attempted revival, circa ten years after the second feature film, was often more like a self-parody...which is most definitely and undeniably a bad thing. One of the few moments of seriousness was the cliffhanger at the end of Season 11 (as I call it for my own convenience). It strongly hinted at some kind of pandemic being started.

Not too long after came the real-world start of COVID-19. Does Chris Carter know something the rest of us don't?

On a somewhat lighter note; I wonder if those flames surrounding poor Jonn are ignited Black Oil?

@Carycomic: If nothing else, that would certainly make for a great plot-convenient tie-in.

A big part of why things were left so convoluted in the original series (I never saw the attempted revival) was that the writers made up the lore as they went along, and nobody thought to keep careful track of things to make sure it all fit together nicely.

Even so, in a setting such as this, some things are best left unexplained, like the rash of odd mutants popping up around the country.

As for the upcoming revival, I too would hope that it's X-Files: The Next Generation. A small team of agents, each with a particular investigative specialty, would make the show ready for the 2020s. Giving them a dedicated private jet (similar to Criminal Minds, but smaller) would make the picture complete.

(I also hope that they finally, ultimately kill off the Cigarette Smoking Man. I'm no sports nut, but I'd love to see the Buffalo Bills win the very next Super Bowl.)

On another note, I find it surprising that Mulder and Scully have yet to encounter the Phantom Stranger, or wander into the Twilight Zone.

if J.J. can get so many self reboots.. had a family with parents and kid brother now nothing is said of them. Seen some new takes on him. None really took. Not that easy.

Maybe Ross could do a reboot of his own. Rick Jones is the son of John Jones by Kathy Sutton! The Martian Manhunter impersonating the Red Tornado, at that time, for some as-yet-unknown reason.

Like, maybe, the real Red Tornado had been double-crossed and dismantled by Jocasta (see STF #3577) so as to infect him with some of Ultron's nanites (see STF #'s 4023-24)?
