Even though they were still honing their signature styles, you can still see the raw talent they had even as young artists. Of course, they were just getting started - they would both go on to become absolute legends in the industry.

So I take it we are to infer that Hitler's collection of occult talismans included Pandora's Box? Well, if one believes Strange Tales v.1/#109, that paradoxical container somehow escaped Allied confiscation to eventually wind up in the custody of David "The Sorcerer" Murdstone!
If, however, one prefers to believe the "Project: Superpowers" imprint of Dynamite Entertainment, it was stolen during the confusion of the depicted battle scene by a highly misguided Fighting Yank. And given that the latter was born Bruce Carter III, I someday hope to see a family reunion, here, between him and Agent Carter. Whether it's Peggy or Sharon, I leave that up to you, Ross. :-)
@Ross: Cary's suggestion has proven inspirational. This would make a great part 2 for yesterday's cover in that the only reason The Spirit avoided being part of the Fighting Yank's post-war superhero purge is due to Zatanna's top hat acting like a mini-TARDIS. Pulling the erstwhile Denny Colt forward through time and space to the present day!
Perhaps even to the same Central City auditorium that once served as the initial link between pre-Crisis Earths One and Two (thereby leading to a special guest appearance by one or two of the Flash family).

Great old-school image. We need The Destroyer and The Phantom to team up now. Purple costumes, skull emblems. Could there be a mysterious connection between them?
Cool! I had to go look up the Destroyer, thinking he was probably from one of the companies that folded and left their characters to the public domain; but no, he's a Timely character, and apparently still gets a little love from Marvel.
That's one of the cool things about this project: We (or at least I) get to find out about interesting, obscure characters I've never heard of.
PS: How about a photo cover with Keaton's Batman and Hasselhoff's Nick Fury? The Hoff has yet to appear here at all, and that TV movie does deserve at least a little love. (With any luck, he'll make an appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars or some other multiverse project; he can't be too bad, being 4 years younger than Samuel L. Jackson.)

Didn't I also read once that the Destroyer was Stan Lee's very first creation? Or am I confusing him with another character?
Oh, I didn't think about the Bondsmen. I just looked at the tags and didn't find Hoff.

Carter's been around with some consistency, so its nice to see some real usage
(But truth to tell, i still prefer the couple from Thanagar...the original version)
But this brings up a slightly different version -- The Mystics. back then. Was there a group like that then?? Just magics??

As for an all-magic group; are you referring to a canonical Marvel counterpart of JLDark? Or, Ross' group, The Coven?
@Tobor: The original, Golden Age Hawkman and Hawkgirl were the reincarnated archaeologists. The Thanagarians originated in the Silver Age.
@Cary: I think Tobor may have been referring to a (theoretical) Golden Age group of magical DC heroes, like Dr. Fate, Johnny Thunder, Green Lantern, et al.
In that case, such a group would also included Tor, Jock "Merlin" Kellogg, Sargon the Sorcerer, Ibis the Invincible, and El Carim.*
*The latter three were nicknamed "The Turban Triplets" by Zatanna during her team up with Scooby Doo and the rest of Mystery, Inc.
