Ms. Marvel and Halo

In a move that surprised many, Marvel has killed off Kamala Khan in the comics.  At first I wondered why because despite the fact that her comics have never been huge sellers, the character is about to make her big screen debut in The Marvels.  My hunch is that like most comic book deaths, this one will be reversed rather soon and the reintroduced Kamala will no longer be an Inhuman but a mutant, to more closely tie her to the MCU version.

It's so nice to have a quiet life. Ms Marvel will be with the Marvelets. Even with the body found, death doesn't have to be counted...or brought back in some other form.

If so, they'll most likely use Jamie Madrox's wife, Layla Miller, whose mutant power seems to be revivification of the recently dead...minus their souls. That is; that part of their spiritual essence responsible for positive human emotions like love, compassion, and empathy.

That being said, I can't help feeling 49% dubious. Because even Marvel's rules seem to have exceptions! For instance: they haven't brought back Freedom Ring. Of course, there are probably one or two cynics reading that statement who are doubtless thinking, right this moment: "That's probably because Marvel doesn't have enough gay readers demanding his return!"

Maybe yes; Maybe no. If that does happen (if Marvel bows to the see-saw called "popular demand"), they will probably use one of three scenarios. Impersonation by the mutant called Dead Ringer. Impersonation by his grief-stricken Skrull friend who doesn't know he's an impersonator because of brainwashing via the the shard of Cosmic Cube set in the ring. Or total reversal of history courtesy of the same.

My point is this; as with Kamala Khan, we'll just have to wait and see.

On a much-lighter note: three Savage Land-centered covers in one month?* It must be Ka-Zar's birthday or something.

I'll agree with you, Ross, except for the last part -- unless her mutant power is to be affected by the Terrigen Mist, or the Mist somehow activated her powers in the way that the bangle activates/enables the MCU version's powers.

But I am looking forward to The Marvels this fall. The trailers have shown Kamala going all fangirl over meeting and even working with Nick Fury, Monica Rambeau, and Carol Danvers, but there's bound to be more serious moments as well, and a couple of the released plot points suggest to me that Kamala may be leveling up at the movie's end.

I'd love to see Marvel do a Marvel Two-In-One (or similar) TV show, where we could get quick pairings that we wouldn't otherwise get in 30- to 60-minute episodes: Black Widow (II) and Hawkeye (II), America Chavez and Spider-Man, Ant-Man & the Wasp and Chang-Shi*, Captain Marvel and the Guardians of the Galaxy, etc.

Today's cover is quite well done, despite the art styles not quite matching up. It would certainly catch my attention, and I'd wonder why it's Uatu and not someone like Taneleer Tivan sponsoring the scavenger hunt.

It just occurred to me that a Collector-sponsored scavenger hunt could be the premise for a series of team-ups, culminating in a big battle. For extra fun, one of the characters from DC using the name of the Collector could also be involved, particularly the one who's a Dark Multiverse mashup of Batman and Brainiac (if a decent image can be found).

*Mostly because they're both based in San Francisco, but also to see Katy and Luis together -- they'd be an interesting pair, of not couple.

How about a nice game of chess between Despero and the Grandmaster?

I wonder if Uatu is trying to keep the Collector from getting his hands on Green Lantern Godzilla.
