Robin and Nova

Nova is one of the Marvel characters that I was able to follow from his very first appearance, so I have been waiting for him to finally be added to the MCU.  Will Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 be the place where he is finally introduced?  I haven't heard anything about that, but there will be a space to be filled for cosmic action once that trilogy concludes.  Let's hope that Nova is part of the next generation of big screen cosmic heroes.

Nova first met Robin along with the rest of the New Teen Titans in STF 497...

As we'd say in the '60s, I totally dig the image of Robin doing wheelies off the Rainbow Bridge!

I almost hate to say it, Ross. But, I think we movie-goers stand a better chance of seeing "HULK VS. TYRANNUS" featuring a rejuvenated Steve Rogers. Or--even more unlikely--Ryan Reynolds doing GL 2!

@Anon829: I know you're referring to the Subterranean super-villain from ancient Rome. But, personally, I don't think Marvel Films will risk cinematizing him. Too much chance of his being confused with a certain Sith Lord who only spelled it with one "n"!

It's actually quite possible that we'll see the Nova Corps re-start, but not likely in the main part of GotG3; they're going to be busy enough with the High Evolutionary and Adam Warlock. More likely, we'll see something about it near the end of the film, or the mid-credits scene. But we can be sure to have Richard Ryder in the MCU sooner or later; the fans have been asking about it since GotG1 came out.

My real question about the movie is: Will anyone be left to continue being the Guardians of the Galaxy? The movie certainly looks to be wrapping up Rocket's arc, and James Gunn has sad that Drax will also be finishing his, and implied the same for Quill and Gamora. It's certainly possible for some other director (since Gunn's also said that he's leaving the series) could pick up GotG4 with Kraglin, Nebula, Mantis, Warlock, and Cosmo (and possibly Groot, though he may stick with Rocket, or sacrifice himself like his progenitor), and I for one would welcome that.

Well, I'll find out for sure tomorrow afternoon.

@Cary: I wouldn't worry too much about that, since the Star Wars character you cite was rarely referred to by his Darth name.

Here's a weird team-up idea that just came to me:

Robin Hood and Merryman (of the Inferior Five).

Since the only human Robin Hood who's been in comics was also published by DC, this would probably involve the anthropomorphic fox from the Disney movie.

I'd enjoy seeing that! My next best (and slightly pro-furrty) choice would be Starfox of Titan meeting his video game namesake.

Bob is wrong, Robin Hood had his own comic in the U.K. and was in quite a few comic series serials
i do like the idea of Merryman meeting Robin Hood, Or Hawkeye - White Arrow ( inferior five’s Archer )

@Simon: I think you meant White FEATHER. As in, the Victorian-era symbol of cowardice. Because this crime-fighting archer was supposed to be a neurotic multi-phobe. Sort of...Oliver Queen meets Adrian Monk.

Considering Gotham Knights doesn't have Grayson but a lot of other Earth mix-ups, it's about the same chances of being ignored the same way as Nova. So nice to have so many characters to choose from.

@simon: Well, DC was the only version I could find on research.

But it might be fun putting together the above-mentioned Fox and Daffy Duck's attempt at portraying him.

Have Nova and Creeper met here? The Rider/Ryder connection!

I think Big Mike has an interesting idea there, Ross. I second it.

Well, then, I'll third it. :-)

Sadly, if they do put a Nova in the MCU it'll be the newer, unnecessary Sam Alexander. Richard Rider deserves his due!

Even more sadly, the ptb's at Marvel Films probably consider Rich Rider a permanent "don't"! :-(

Maybe next time you have these characters meet, it could be Sam and Damian

I'd rather see Carrie Kelly's Robin meet Nova Kane (of E-MAN fame).

Btw: for the few who might be unaware? Today's depiction of E-Man doesn't violate Ross' counter-balancing rule. Because he's still the intellectual property of artist (and surviving co-creator) Joe Staton. So, E-Man was _not_ among the Charlton characters available for purchase by DC back before the COIE.
