Blue Devil, Doctor Strange and Clea

I enjoyed Nathan Fillion's small role in Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3., and I know that James Gunn likes to work with his acting friends  - so I fully expect him to show up somewhere in the new DCU line up as well.  I think that Blue Devil would be a great character for Fillion to play.  His combination of physicality, heroics and humor could turn the C-List hero into a fan favorite.

Blue Devil first met Dr. Strange in STF #46 and then battled Mephisto with him in STF #3051...

Between Firefly & the Rookie, he has a chance to make a new addition to his name.

@Det. Tobor: he'll have to work hard to top playing Nick Castle for almost a whole decade. That's the only reason my mom even watches "The Rookie"! Although, his turn as the renegade priest on the final season of BTVS* did prove he has the chops for dark fantasy roles. So, playing the somewhat anti-heroic Blue Devil might not be implausible (using CGI or mo-cap for BD's physiology).

@Ross: Not having seen GOTG3 for myself, yet, I'll have to refrain from making any pro/con statements at this time.**

*I don't regard the post-Sunnydale comic book stories as canonical continuations. Not unless and until Joss Whedon starts adapting some of them for the silver screen, the TV screen, or both. After all, the SWEU initially had George Lucas' blessing as "canonical"! Now, all those particular comic book and paperback spin-offs of Star Wars are just "Legends". Nothing more than glorified fanfiction (just as much as any on-line nonprofit pastiche).

**Sounds like I'm running for office, doesn't it? I should be lucky enough to have a politician's money!

I agree about Nathan in GotG3; his performance was spot-on, though it helped someone that he had great material to work with. I also agree with you about him as Blue Devil, though as with suggestions for him to play Wonder Man, he may be a little old for a featured role in a superhero movie. He'd probably be best as a mentor type, like Hank Pym or Mar-Vell have been.

And I still have a dream of Dr. Strange and Dr. Mid-Nite working together to save BD from some unidentified malady.

@Cary: That's Richard Castle.

I know. But, it sounded so disrespectful referring to his character by the usual nickname (for Richard)!

@Cary: On the show, he usually goes by "Rick."

It's time for a Blue Devil/Hellboy team-up!

@Cary: What Other Bob said.

@Wolfhammer: Great Scott! How has that pairing not already happened???

@both Bobs: like I said; in my family, only my mom loved the show enough to watch it. The series counter-programmed against it had my viewership.

Personally, I'd prefer a CGI of Michael Bailey Smith as Blue Devil's physical form. And either Nathan Filion or Alex O' Loughlin as his voice.

@Carycomic: I finally got to see GOTG3, yesterday. You haven't missed much. Believe me!

If I'd been Nat Fillion, I'd have opted to remain uncredited for that talent-wasting cameo. :-(

I'd love to see Ahsoka Tano meet Daniel Cassidy and ask him: "Are you half-Chagrian/half-Devaronian?"
