The Phantom and Fin Fang Foom

I thought that it might be interesting to have these two as allies rather than combatants.  The phantom mantle has been passed down as long or longer as Foom has been in operation, so they may even have some shared history together.  I'd like to see the threat that requires their cooperation.

This is terrific Ross! Without the caption, it would have looked like the Phantom was doomed. I don't know Fin Fang Foom well enough, but throughout Marvel history, he does seem to have some sense of honor. There was a great short story where he teamed up with Wong to stop a local chapter of Hydra when they attacked a Christmas parade. Belated Happy New Year!

Well maybe, this time, Hydra has cloned King Kong (see STF #3306 @May2021) and then implanted it with a queen xenomorph (see STF 3974 @Dec.2014)*

*The lap top I use does NOT create links; does NOT receive attached "documents," and does NOT even cut-and-paste. Giving you the "cover" dates is the best you can legitimately expect as a compromise in the form a New Year's resolve on my part.

The Phantom and Phantom Girl sounds like a natural pairing.

I second Mr. Wyatt's suggestion. :-)

Happy New Year, Ross!

This is one of those wonderfully counterintuitive pairings that makes sense when you think about it, or explain it as you just did, Ross. Plus, the art styles match up so wonderfully that it's hard to tell that the cover wasn't actually commissioned.

@Cary: Recognizing that problem your laptop has, I accept this as a decent compromise. Citing month and year at least makes the issues easier to track down.

@emsley: It's not natural, other than the fun of combining the names. Not that there's anything wrong with that, of course.

@Bob G, very true...,OR..in lieu there of,..The Phantom and The Spirit!

Ross, a beautiful cover like this deserved to exist in history. For that matter, the fans of these heroes who don't know about you yet are gonna have a major surprise someday, if they're lucky.

@Tobor: Folks have been trying to get the Phantom, the Spirit, and the Shadow together for years, and at least the latter two would go well together (if the right art can be found). Having the Spectre overseeing the trio would be a bonus. And Ghost (Dark Horse) wouldn't be unwelcome in the group, either.

@Bob Greenwade: why not? Ross has already given us The Shadow and the Spirit (see STF #403 @May2013); the Spirit vs. the Spectre (see STF #2113 @Jan.2018); and the Phantom meets the Shadow (see STF #2508 @Feb.2019).

All four would be the ultimate culmination of their aliases' generic synonymity (as Wm. Harper Littlejohn).

(...might say).

Hey Ross. Great cover. That would make for an interesting crossover miniseries that I would read. Have you thought of Ulysses Bloodstone hunting after Godzilla, King Kong, Starro, or even Tiamat?
I know that Ulysses Bloodstone was part of the Werewolf by Night miniseries on the Disney channel, but I haven't seen it yet. It's been on my mind.

Or, failing all that, how about the Rankin-Bass King Kong vs. the Hanna-Barbera Godzilla?

I second Anon1102's motion! :-)

Fin Fang Foom may have been waiting eons to repay debt from a previous Phantom. He wants satisfaction and be wanting to be able to sleep.

Think: Thy'lek Shran on Star Trek: Enterprise owing debt to Archer.

Or, more realistically, Melvin Dummar and Howard Hughes.
