The Avengers Vs. Poison Ivy

It may seem like a lopsided match at first - But if Ivy was on her turf with the ability to turn an Avenger or three to her will through mind controlling spores or something, she just might give Earth's Mightiest Heroes a run for their money.  It would be fun to watch play out at any rate!

I would expect this confrontation to actually go more or less as shown, except that I'd swap Cap for Wonder Man. (Not that you probably had a lot of options to do so; I'm just saying, if this was the lineup and I had an artist drawing it, that's how I'd go.)

In the end, though, I think Wasp would be the one to save the day, partly because she's a woman, partly because of her shrinking ability, and partly because she's a good-sense talker. If I were writing this, she'd strike a deal where Ivy can keep her rulership, so long as she handles things peacefully. She might even be able to convince the authorities to go along with the deal.

On the other hand, I seem to recall that around the time of "No Man's Land," Ivy was turning into more of an antihero, or perhaps antivillain. What if she were to turn her attention to someone like Roxxon? Might they send the Serpent Squad after her?

Bob- I don't think Poison Ivy's botanical/biochemical mind-control would be effective on a living ionic energy being like Wonder Man. He was immune to the Purple Man's powers in the Emperor Doom graphic novel.

@Alaric: Good catch! Then the cover stands fine as is.

@Bob and Al: let's not forget the Vision. Would her pheromones really affect a synthezoid like him? I'm thinking not!---Cary

After dealing with the Enchantress and beings like Puppet Master, would the Avengers really take long to prune her?

Plus, Iron Man's armor would surely have an air-filtration system that would keep out potentially dangerous micro-particles. After all; Pamela's power is biochemically based. Not magical.*

@Cary: Good point about Iron Man. (Not so much Vision, who isn't here.) Ivy might still be able to affect Thor or Hank, though.

@Bob: actually, that only proves my point all the more! Brainwashed Cap probably devised a way to take him out beforehand.

Maybe Ivy got Tony when he wasn't wearing the armor. She thought she was just getting Tony Stark under her control, but when she discovered he was also Iron Man (this cover obviously takes place at a time when Iron Man's identity wasn't publicly known) it inspired her to take on the Avengers.

Good point, Al! So, between his hi-tech and Cap's knowledge of military strategy, they've might been able to lure Vizh into a trap on Isley's behalf.

Maybe a sequel to this cover would give us Ivy calling in her Injustice Gang teammates for reinforcements against the Avengers lineup here or maybe a West Coast version wondering why Wonder Man is M.I.A.

Possible battles would be = Wasp taking on Ivy, Thor vs.Shadow Thief, Chronos vs.Captain America, Yellowjacket vs.Scarecrow, Iron Man's arsenal vs.Tattooed Man's skin arsenal, and Mirror Master vs Wonder Man.

The Construct would also be an interesting opponent against Iron Man & I could see Abra Kadabra annoying Thor or Wonder Man (who as an actor gets applause which would tick off Abra).
