Fire and Sunspot in: "A T-Rex in Rio!"

I finally got around to checking out The New Mutants last night, and to my surprise, I kind of enjoyed it!  This movie had become notorious for all of the various delays and reshoots, and I went in with very low expectations.  Yes, the story was derivative and not particularly well written (this hospital only has a single employee?), but I thought the characters were all well cast and their powers were realized effectively.  There were even some pretty impressive special effects with the Demon Bear and Lockheed. I wouldn't have minded seeing this team continue.

Fire and Sunspot had an interrupted reunion in STF #2673, and  were first revealed to be siblings in STF #2484...

That T-Rex has a face that deserves to be in commercials.

And as we fade out on the end of the happy reunion, we hear the sweet notes to " You light up my life..." good nite all.

Love that title! Sounds like something Weird Al Yankovic would compose for a song parody of Fred Astaire.

"Oh, my! A T-rex down in Rio.
Con los Da Costas, quite a trio.
Carneval won't be the same!"

My first look at that cover, and I said "I thought Jade and Obsidian were both DC characters." Funny how you never see the DaCostas and the children of Alan Scott together at the same time...

I also watched the New Mutants movie yesterday and "kind of enjoyed it" too. I'm not a fan of the brooding suspense/horror genre in general, but knowing the characters and that they would eventually cut loose with their powers got me through the brooding parts. Although the misdirect of using the name of a character known as an allay as the bad person threw me for awhile.

I quite enjoyed the New Mutants move (saw it when it came out in the theatres), but not being a Marvel reader, I had no preconceptions nor expectations except from the trailers.

I also saw the movie on the big screen, with low-to-middling expectations based on reviews. It was a little better than I'd expected; I said at the time that it was worthwhile as a matinee film, as a sort of mostly escapist entertainment.

Even so, should Marvel Studios decide to bring in the Exiles, Anya Taylor-Joy's Magik would be a very welcome member.

T-R-io-ex? Trioex. As a "t-rex in rio", it sounds like something very explosive.

Wouldn't that make him a TNT-rex?

If it's a T-rex in Rio, shouldn't that read R'Trexio? Heck, that could even be the name of the T-rex himself. (Ri-trexo. Easier to pronounce?)
