Speed Racer is not a great film as far as the script went, but there's no denying that the visuals in the movie are quite impressive. I think the movie was a victim of bad timing - it came out a year before Avatar hit screens and everyone was eager to try out the new 3D technology. Maybe if it had released after that brief phenomenon, it would have done better at the box office.

I think it's more like it came out too soon after SIN CITY. The mo-cap/green screen was way too similar.
I just hope they don't drive angry. ;-)
My only complaint about the movie was every race car could do tricks, it made the Mach 5 no longer special. But given the story was about the effect that trick racing had on that industry, I can see why it went that way.
