Speaking of inspirations, one of the greatest in the comics world is legendary artist Ramona Fradon. at 94 years old, she is still creating amazing artwork today. I was very fortunate to get an original piece from her many years back:

As tonight is the Academy Awards, I was half-expecting something involving Oscar (The Grouch). Lol!
Ramona used a legitimately mad scientist. Wonder how she designed his machine? The book, "Criminal Hardware Made Easy", was a best seller that year.
Plastic Man was ok, but for a wicked encounter? Have Eel vs the Puppet Master. What would give first- Plastic or Clay?

The title is so perfect, I have to tip my hat to whomever came up with this combo. It makes me wish I could think of someone who could turn Circe's magic against herself to protect Pee-Wee Herman in "I Know You Are, But What Am I?"
The choice of poses is a fun one, too. Plas has this great "Uh-oh" expression, leaving one to question what the outcome of this specific moment will be. I'd certainly be interested in reading the story!
The mad scientist figure reminds me of both "Spider" Spry (from Archie Comics "Mighty Crusaders") and Generalissimo Brainstorm (from Harvey Comics "Pirana"). Both of whom were classic over-the-top Bad Guys during the Silver Age!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I nominate Mystique looking like Pee-Wee. Circe is casting her spell and Mystique partially changes to keep her confused. Knocks her out keeping her own identity in the dark. Nice one Mr. G.!

Speaking of the Human Target, I think it might make for an interesting cover (next year's April Fool's project, perhaps?) of him vs. Mystique, using a mostly-generic crowd scene that also includes Carmen Sandiego and Waldo. Add in any other masters of disguise and/or camouflage (such as Chameleon from the animated The Tick, Darkman, or Gellert Grindelwald -- maybe even an Autobot) at leisure.
Or, even better, Wonder Woman and the Golden Age Robotman meet the Autobots on "Transformer Island!"
