I agree with you fully, Ross. It doesn't take a great physique to be a hero; it only takes a great heart.
If the labels are meant to be original art credit -- isn't the Bouncing Boy from a story early in the S/LSH period when BB gets his powers back? James Sherman art, I want to say. Definitely not LaRocque.
Oooh. Michael Netzer Bouncing Boy art. It was a back story that he drew in which Chuck got his powers back by throwing his body on to a force field.
What caught my attentıon about Bouncıng Boy was that he was ın a relatıonshıp wıth a GORGEOUS Legıonaıre (was ıt Shadow Lass). That gave me hope as a short, chubby nerd back then!
I believe Bouncing Boy had twice the woman as anyone else for he married Duo Damsel.
Michael got it in one. They even got married, if I recall correctly, though I don't remember for sure whether they ever had kids before the Legion was thrust into Reboot Hell.
I've been reading a lot of '70s Legion of Superheroes lately. They were so great then. They're one of those groups, like the Doom Patrol and the Marvel Family, that have a clearly defined peak (or Golden Age), and have struggled (and failed) in subsequent reboots to recapture that magic.
