The New Mutants and Cyborg

The New Mutants was exciting for readers of my age because here was an X-team that we could start collecting and following as soon as they began.  Well, not exactly, for me anyway.  While I was able to get the series off of the stands from issue #1, the first appearance of the team was in one of Marvel's new graphic novels.  Those were only available in comics shops, none of which were nearby my home, certainly not in bike riding distance.  It would be years before I was able to get my hands on a copy.

Nice matching with this cover. Well done as always. Any chance of a match-up between the U-Foes and the Elementals?

One wonders if even Superman could survive an explosion of Cannonball's energies amped up by Robo-Brainiac?

Excellent rendering, Ross! :-)

A nice quiet afternoon with a cannonball run. How could it miss?

Oh, that's Sam on the ground? I thought it was Doug. Yeah, Sam makes a lot more sense with what Vic's saying.

Of course, the immediate situation should be easy enough to handle, since Warlock handled a similar crisis in #2916 (and given his previous adventure with Cyborg in #2295), though there's still the matter of dealing with Brainiac himself and any other damage he might have in the works.

And on the further topic of Warlock, I'm now wondering how well he'd interact with Commander Data.

Oh, and a fight between Wolfsbane and Cheetah might be interesting.

BTW, for those who haven't seen my statements about it before, the New Mutants movie is worth watching. It's not a great movie by any means, but it's much closer to that than it is to being a waste of time.

Tony, there's not a lot of Elementals images to pick from, but I have been meaning to use them.

I know, they weren’t around long but thanks for trying….

@Tony & Ross: It's kind of like, for World Autism Awareness Day (2 April), it'd be a magnificent blessing to have some combination of Johnny Do, the M-Twins, The Blue Ranger,* and Entrapta, but it's incredibly hard to find suitable images.

*"On the spectrum" in the 2017 Power Rangers movie.

Nice blend of images Ross. You wouldn’t know this isn’t a real book just from looking. I just had a great idea for a future cover….. Cap-wolf or Man-wolf or Werewolf by night vs Jimmy Olsen werewolf!

Isaac,
Check the Jimmy Olsen Tag, he's already met both Man-Wolf and Werewolf by Night on the blog.

@Ross and Isaac: then how about Barbara Ann Minerva vs. Esteban Carracus in...

"Cheetahs Never Prosper!"

That pun is too horrible to not do.
