Hawkman and Captain Britain

I was happy to use an image of Hawkman here by the very talented Lee Weeks.  I was able to pick up an original page of his many years back, and even got to thank him for it at a convention years later, he was incredibly nice and got a kick out of the STF Daredevil/Calvin & Hobbes t-shirt I was wearing. I gave him a business card with the Blog's address on it when he asked where I got the shirt from, so who knows?  Maybe he's checking out this entry right now.

Ironic that Hawkman is slicing away at that giant cobra with a sort-of-short-sword known as...a katar.

Btw: trailers are already being shown in theaters for the next round of DCEU films. The ones that featured Dr. Fate and Duane Johnson as Black Adam looked promising! But, most interesting of all was the one featuring Hawkman.

Evidently, he's got the same bronze-like wing implants as the expatriate Thanagarian in the CW series NAOMI.

Mr. Weeks probably isn't checking out this entry right now, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't here by the end of the week, if not the end of the day. It's a pretty fun blog, after all.

Great cover, Ross. And my favorite version of CB to boot.

Did make me think, have we seen a Winged Wonders team yet? If not: Hawkwoman, Angel, Bumblebee, Zauriel, Pixie, and Wasp would be a lot of fun together.

I have considered a winged team before - but winged characters tend to take up a lot of space so it might be tough without making them all tiny.

Makes sense.

Brainiac can shrink them down to size and accidentally bring them together so it would fit in with your story concept!

I agree with Anonymous. Take that now-classic shot of giant Mekanique being attacked by the JSA. Substitute Silver Age Brainiac and the winged characters in question...et voila!

@Bob Greenwade: it took me the whole Week-end to notice your pun. It was that subtle!*

*Or, was I simply too Week-minded?

@Ross: Well, you did manage to get Aragorn and Winged Victory on the same cover together, and even made it look darn good. The right images of your winged team could make it work -- either everyone (or most of them, anyway) with wings at rest, or everyone flying directly toward the reader.

@Cary: It was also unintentional; I didn't even notice it myself, until you pointed it out. (Sometimes I do that.)

Always liked the original Captain Britain costume.

True! The current version makes him look too much like Union Jack.

Sad but true. :-(
